  1. this might help, list of amp classes i didnt look this over, but i think its the right one haha this link talks about ampliers so from what ppl have been telling me so far and what i have been reading it would seem that mosfets in amps would be nearly the only ideal application? interesting! i thought it talked about different kinds and how they are used, maybe i have the wrong article. actually i am going to do some more reading on the site i think i had it wrong on my initial view of it!
  2. thankyou! that will be going into my little report!

  4. also it says they are used in amplifiers b/c of there low noise?and effeciency? can anyone point me in the right direct on this one? (this came from a peer in class)
  5. bcae1.com go to number 79 on the list on the right why thankyou!!!
  6. i just seen some interesting blurp "Field-effect transistors exist in two major classifications. These are known as the junction FET (JFET) and the metal-oxide- semiconductor FET (MOSFET)." and "field-effect transistor (FET) is a type of transistor commonly used for weak-signal amplification (for example, for amplifying wireless signals" does that sound legit? so FET is jsut a general term and more commonly called MOSFET and JFET?
  7. So last weekend our teach put us in groups of 5 and give each group a topic. all the topics are related to electrical components and what not. My group was lucky enough to get FIELD EFFECT TRANSISTORS(FETS) and then we broke it up into sections for each person to do, for the part i have to do "research applications and why they are used" and then i started to think doesn't car audio amplifiers have fets in them? or rather called mosfet? so i was just wondering if anyone could start me out or lend a hand on where i should be looking for information and maybe recommend a creditable site? also i was thinking about dropping db-r an e-mail asking him but i don't know if that would be a good idea b/c I image he is busy and wouldn't have time for crap like this. and no i haven't done any looking around yet this is my first time opening my note book since last weekends. for rest of today i plan on using the Google-machine and Wikipedia and whatever else comes my way to help me start this project and hopefully get it nearly completed tonight. as I find info I will be posting it here and hopefully getting feedback from the members on here regarding my project! so any and all help will be appreciated and thanks for your time in advances Kenneth
  8. since you are running 3 diffent amps i would recommend using this fused distro, i have in the past and it works quite nicely and very easy to install http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KNF-23 i would use 4gauge for all 3 amps and use 1/0 into the fused distro. as for fuse sizes i like to match the fusing on the amp its self. so if the sae1200 has 90 amps of fusing then use a 90amp fuse! just look at the amps and add up there fuses to get a total number and use that to determine what to fuse each lead from the distro block! as for hooking up your d1200 just hook it in parellel to the front battery (positive to positive and negative to negative) and be sure to use 2 fuses on the run of positive wire! one fuse holder near each battery to be safe! and i would recommend using 1/0 wire to wire the batteries up. the more runs the better as long as you can fit them all!! here is the fuse hold i use and i like to use a 250-300 amp fuse in it! http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=FH-20 any more question please feeel free to ask and also don't forget to do the big 3!! enjoy
  9. used to?..what does he use now?
  10. have you guys tried calling up the manufactural at all? or the place of purchase? i am sure they can help you out. sorry. but if there is anyone else on here with your brother setup they WILL chime in just give them some time! after all it is the weekend!!!
  11. a 30 amp fuse? question: 1.what gauge wire are you using? if you don't know please acuratly measure the wire, 2.what is the fusing on the amp its self, if any? 3. how much power is that amp outputting? 4. did you install it all yourself? or a shop i would use a 30amp fuse on 10gauge wire for 8gauge i would recommend stepping up the fuse size to like 50 or 60, and i for some reason i can't make out what kind of fuse holder you are using? mini anl? or agu? can you please clarify this for me? also how long have you had this system up and running for? like did you get it installed say last year and just now you are getting issueS?
  12. looks l nice! and congrats on your purchase!
  13. Hey ya my h/u has customizable backgrounds also! that is an awesome idea!!!
  14. bump bump!!
  15. welcome back NOW GET TO WORK you missed a WHOLE day lmoa! jk!! glad to hear you made it back!
  16. wisely put! thankyou very much for your input and help!! Kenneth
  17. i got another question know. if i set my tuning in my box to the PERFECT tune and i am not competeing full time was all that just a waste? like ppl who perfectly tune there car's are like spl head ppl and hit high ass numbers on the meter and what not plus they sink all kinds of time and money into these builds and live for shows and the next big one! so is it really worth it for me to go though all of this and building multiple box's! and what not. or should i jsut tune it to 41.5hz and call it a day lol.
  18. i think i found out how to do it! thanks guys!!! and
  19. okay lets go one step forward lets say i find my resonant frequency of my car, so once i get that number how does that help to determine my sub's box frequency? i know my car's resonant frequency isn't what i tune my box to so what would i tune my box to say if my resonant frequency in my car was 50hz? also does it matter what sub i use? can i use an 8inch in a sealed box? or does it have to be like a 12?
  20. umm why is your bass boost half way up on your amp? also how do you knwo it is clipping i aassume you can hear it if you have that kind a power but did you put it on an oscope? also what is your rca voltage? are you using any kind of line drivers? also maybe the issue is with the remote? maybe it is a bass boost remote rather then a gain remote? sorry i don't mean to under mind you or anything like that.
  21. question do i have to use a sub? or can I just use a mid bass (6.5inch speaker or a 6x9 in a sealed box) b/c if i play it half volume i shouldn't bottem out my speaker right? as for the sweep i got some tones on my pc i can play. one more question once i get my resonant frequency would i subtract a few hz's from the tuning of my box? like if my resonant freq was 48 i would tune my box to 42? is that what you were getting at MemphisMzd ? and thanks so far for your help you guys have help out so far!! and i will for sure give those spl boards a read once i get out of school! thanks again Kenneth
  22. lol you said it! most sellers are just straight up DICKS
  23. here is there site http://www.knukonceptz.com/index.cfm and here are the rca http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMaster.cfm?category=RCA%20Cables he is using krystal and i am using karma and you can get away with using that other cheap stuff and here is some speaker wire! just do it on there site dont' worry about ebay http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMaster.cfm?category=Speaker%20Wire i was using the karma wire for my speakers and kasa for my sub! and if you let us know what sub and how much power you are going to give it we can recommend a gauge of wire to use!
  24. sure do! which speaker do you plan to power? if using a 15inch go with 10gauge speaker wire if using a 12 go with 12gauge wire! but then again it all depends on the sub and the amount of power you are tossing though those wires! remember each gauge wire can only support a certian amount of current!
