  1. 4inch port..isn't that a little big? maybe step down to a 2inch port? or maybe 2 -2inch ports
  2. and i assume you are refering to the 540MR http://www.cdstandbypower.com/product/battery/vrla/pdf/12_1029.pdf
  3. I have a buddy who is running 2 of those C&D huge @$$ 100lb batteries! I think the main reason (my own personal belief) that they can't sell them due to how much they weigh. SO they have to sell them cheaper than normal plus i think they are like 30% bigger than most other batteries also. so due there added size and weigh factor. but my buddy swears by them as he thinks they are the best batteries around due to their huge ah and reserve!
  4. Okay so I will just tune it to 41.5 Hz and I will not worry about spl! I guess! Thanks for your recommendation. Also quick question how do you know my resonate frequency of my car? Just from what you have heard? And yes why tune to half a hertz? And yes I plan on tuning to half a hertz so please do enlighten me as to how half a hertz will sound better/perform? and thanks for your help Kenneth
  5. for my alt there is no wire to ground the alt to the engine block BUT my alt ground via the bolts that bold it to the engine. as for hooking up a bigger guage wire to your 3prong ya i don't knwo we would have to see a pic. maybe get a trouble light and your camera and see what you can do.
  6. The design is one of shizzzons so i can't take the credit! umm i wouldn't call this a walled b/c i don't have a huge port and cubics to play with. the loading area port will not be restricted by anything as my seats full down so this setup is quite unique i would say. in sarnia and windsor we don't have very many shows at all and the closes meter to me is about 3hour drive ish. and right now i don't want to compete full time as i am going to school and what not! and yes i also agree with gary "Your resonant freq. is probably going to be around 44-48hz. With the design in your drawing, it will probably be tuned to low for a really good spl score. But would be great for music. To get a good spl tuning you would more than likely end up with a negative port length. "
  7. negative port... so spl isn't for me then with this type of setup? and i should jsut stick to 45hz for my daily system? or did i just miss what you were saying?
  8. any more question please feel free to ask them also a recommend tuning range would be nice so i have something to shoot for!
  9. also those ports will FIRE directly into the cab and the LOAD area under the subs will fire into the cab as well
  10. i thought you would say that. i guess i will have to play around with my ports then. lucky for me i am going to have an interchangeable port idea so this shouldn't be a big deal. but still a lot of work.
  11. sorry guys here is the missing info car: 95 grand am electrical big 3, 2-d2700 subs are d2 so the wiring will be at 2ohm spl goal is 149-151 db!! (hopefully) deadening so far is jsut the front doors later on when i start my build i will deaden my trunk nearly completely here is what my box is here is the cut list for my box Top - 36*30 Bottom - 10*29.25 Passenger Side - 16.5*30 Driver Side - 17.250*30 Front - 18*36 Back - 17.25*34.5 Step - 4*29.25 Sub Mount board - 26*29.250 Second Port - 10*17.25 First Port - 10*17.25 all out of 3/4 mdf and there will be supports in there jsut not shown in the pic i also have a 200amp alt.
  12. Hey guys i am looking for a tuning frequency for 2-15inch NS to use for SPL. My box will have interchangeable ports one for daily and one for an SPL show. my daily will be 34hz and for spl... i don't know what to use 40? 30? any recommendations on this would be awesome! i am using 2-6inch aero ports btw! in a 6cubic box powered by 2-saz2000 strapped and yes this is my new build starting around April if not much sooner!!!! thanks for your time and recommendations! Kenneth
  13. Sound Quality Level! but with those 2 big hitters what is "SQL" lol!
  14. if they are 15's shouldn't he have like double the cubic volume?
  15. and here are some sites for reference: http://www.kinetikaudio.com/2009/product.asp?C=1&P=KHC2400 http://www.4xspower.com/audiobatteries.asp
  16. sweet design! lol!! and pardon my ignorance are those 2 15's or 2 12's? and how big is that port 10inch llol!!! i assume 12's b/c of the box being about 3cubics after displacement.
  17. So in the future, about spring time, I am going to be upgrading to 2-15" NS in my car powered by 2-SAZ2000 strapped amps. So I will be pushing about 4000rms at 2ohm and now i am looking at which batteries to purchase. Here are the 2 which i found, either 2- XS2700 or 2- kinetik hc2400. My question to you is what would you use? XS or Kinetik? the price for the 2700 and hc2400 are about the same, on ebay and ssa. i am leaning towards the XS myself. but i have LOTS of time to think about it! please feel free to make some suggestions to other batteries but please keep in mind space limitations of 13"x6.7". I will get accurate measurements on Wednesday. Kenneth And please feel free to make suggestions. and keep in mind I want to the batteries to have about 100 AH plus! Thanks for your time and suggestions!
  18. interesting i was talking to my buddy who was running a similar amp to the one you are talking about and the same thing happened to him although when his popped out and then hit the terminal again it killed a output transistor. something along those lines. but your sub still fires so ya i don't really know what is up maybe something in the pre-amp is half burnt or something interesting. most definitely take it in or even open the amp yourself and post some pics of it and see what the experts on here say about your pics!! also you said you are only using 1 of the 2 channels b/c channel 1 (or 2) blow one of your subs? is this sub still connected?
  19. wow that is bad! recone ftw for sure!!!
  20. good luck, be safe, and have fun!
  21. first of all what amp and sub and speakers do you own. maybe the sub might have sounded to be a little bit less loud b/c you were a little pareniod? you are saying one of the sub leads came out of the amp correct?
  22. The way some companies market specs is comical, you'll never see 8v outta that deck. Run it without worry. I'm not sure which model of Eclipse it was, but I know somebody scoped the outputs on one of them and it actually did measure a full 8 volts, but the more astonishing thing was that it was unclipped even at 100% on the volume knob. This was probably 5 years ago. now that is interesting to know!!
  23. wow looks great and very creative! I like IT!
  24. found some! http://cableorganizer.com/fray-resistant/
