  1. well if your battery voltage falls below 12volts turn the volume down but shogen does bring up a good point your amp will be pulling a lot so to prolong the life on the alt dail the gain down some! like if your amp is rated for 1krms run it at 800~ 1000rms at 12volts = what 85amps? and your alt makes 90amps at what idle or 3k rpm?
  2. wait on the h/o! just install it and keep an eye on your voltage and be conservative! also get a voltmeter!
  3. 2-6" you should have went with 2-8" for 32each! or a single 10inch for 70$~~!! the 6's are to small lol more port! lol
  4. lucky Guy you Are lol
  5. well i just set my gains with the knob and it is turned just under 1/2 way up. and if i turn the knob up more the output on the amp also goes up as i seen this on my dmm and yes i forgot about the sub controls thanks man! hey want to buy a 15inch NS v1? d1
  6. thanks man! I also jsut got word back from Jacob and he said "Slave setting don't matter." so thanks everyone for your inputs also I just set my gain with my remote lol and it worked!
  7. awesome that is what I am leaning towards also thanks I also send Jacob an e-mail regarding this question. I seems every time I ask someone this question no one can give me a straight answer due to lack of people strapping amps I would guess. well other then shizzzon of course! he is the man with plenty of knowledge lol! thanks again and I will post Jacobs answer here when I get it!
  8. lol some funny comments regarding my shirt that I thought I would share! "nice bowling shirt" "why does your shirt say @$$ spelled backwards" o and I found out at my work place that a few other people are also/ WERE into car audio lol good times made some new friends and got a few laughs also lol!
  9. truer words have never been typed before!
  10. welcome Ray!
  11. awesome! I will just reset the knob then! thanks guys for your help and i will also double check my wiring. off topic question if the slave amps gain is set all the way up would that effect anything? and no i don't know off hand if that gain is set i don't believe so but if IF it was would it have any effect since it is after all the SLAVE amp? also on a side note the amp that goes into protect is the slave amp while the master stays out of protect... is that odd to anyone else other then me? like shouldn't both amps go into protect? also would the settings on the slave amp matter? like it is the slave and the master should over ride all of the settings...yes... no? / ?
  12. wow i never seen the after math of a battery exploding that looks scary good thing you didn't get hurt/ splashed
  13. OKay here is what is up! I just installed my 2-12inch NS v1, and powering them is 2-saz2500 all wired to 2ohms! (subs wire to 4ohms and then wired in parallel to each other to drop the load to 2ohms) now with my last setup it was a single 15inch NS v1 d1 wired in parellel to get a 2ohm load! this isn't the last box but close enough to what it all looked like. now back ground, with the single 15inch first I set it via dmm, then used and oscope to set my gains and then clamped it and realized that i was making about 2400rms on a 6~ohm load on a burp. which was good enough to get me a 145.5 db on burp out of the old setup. now here is the issue with the 2-12s installed and with the previous gain settings when i crank it all the way up my one amp will go into protect due to clipping or to low of an impedance(not sure which one). now i would simple jsut reset the gains but stupid me forgot about the gains because it was getting late and I dropped the new box in with the subs then i proceeded to seal it off with expanding foam and now i realize that i would have to reset my gains agian but takign out that box will be a bitch. both of the amps are UNDER the sub box in the tire well. but I think I found a loop hole! I am using a remote gain knob on those amps so would I be able to turn the knob down a bit rather then take the whole box out and go though countless hours just to twist the knob a bit? or is that not how it works? I assume because it is a remote gain knob it would act like the gain knob on the amps...no? I don't know what to do other then not play the system at max which is no big issue as it get loud when everything is low as that box is tuned to 30-90hz and the system is crossed at 80hz! at any rate what can I do? o and school starts on Monday so i want/need to do something soon lol
  14. did you set the voltage meters based on a dmm reading or just installed them from factory settings? also what volt meters are you using? and you do that in a parallel setup the voltage will be constant right so if you are getting different readings there is something else a miss. also will a second run help you out... i say yes only because you are using more then 3k (amp specs) i say for every 3k use 1 run! but also keep in mind your alt is outputting at best 180 amps which is PLENTY for one run Since each run of 1/0 since each run can hold... what 200-300amps... depending on the brand if you had a 320amp alt i would say go with 2-3runs again depending on the brand used!
  15. if you need an alt will depend on the system you are/ have installed! so i must ask what is your setup you THINK you need an alt for? what else do you have to back it up? batteries? big 3? caps? ummmm setup transformer what you got man? we need a little more info as for an h/o for your truck you need to drop an e-mail to DC power engineering i am sure they can hook you up with something or an alternative or hook you up all togehter with a retro or something
  16. did you do this? http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/videos/view-6-2010-camaro-ss-with-hydraulics/ also how is this coming along/
  17. go with the 15 and sell the 12's or try both and see which one suits you better!
  18. look what i got in the mail today! I will be wearing this tomorrow at work! and an action shot of me with my shirt and my 15inch NS v1

  20. free shipping o my! never noticed that! thanks for the heads up!
  21. you mean C&D batteries? also what does UPS stand for... pardon my noob-ness the only think i can think that ups stands for right now is united postal service lol I believe it means Uninterrupted Power Supply. You would be correct. The NSB batteries I have used in the past were shit, but I got them cheap as hell, so we used them. Replaced them all within a year and that was without being used more than testing for 30 seconds every month and a 90 minute semi-annual drain. C&D and Lithonia are all I use now. These batteries can not take a constant charge. Once they are full you want them removed from the circuit, then a low amp charge as needed. They can not handle current inrush or voltage spikes either. hey thanks for the info i wish i would have looked into this a little bit more and made a thread like this lol. o well live and learn right! I hope they last the winter i guess so when i get out of school i can drop in some xs or batcap which ever is in my price range!
  22. I knew you were the guy with the right info! i guess i can sell them as batteries with a lower float! lol and that 12.1 was with car off then that's to be expected results. I would just stick with what it's intended purpose is... You can use other products for things they were not intended for but will lack the optimal performance outcome. amen to that! lol and thanks again and sorry OP for the little side track!
  23. HAHAHA.. I sure hope you didn't make that batt quantity choice because you bought into all that paranoia, overkill bullcrap for daily driving, hehe. Yea, you could have drove ur car back n forth to work a couple days straight without alternator before needing a recharge on the batts. (I've had to do this before for 3 weeks.. I'm good at knowing what my car can handle without an alt, lol) LOL no no i only used all 4 because i got a HELLA good deal on all 4 lol they were used but still a good deal! they were very small and very effective and ideal for the future setup! plus it looked cool and i planned to use all 4 for when i got my 2-saz2000 but i ended up getting the nsb and 2-saz2500 and made money off of the batcaps a fair amount off of them to lol.
