loud noise from speakers all of a sudden...
temporary setup consists of a pioneer 880 that ive had for years and never had a problem with, never had to do the ghetto "grounding the RCA's" thing, etc. knu konceptz RCA's that ive never had trouble with either. well i took out my mtx 2ch amp the other day to cover the back of the wall in the MINI. it was working when i took it out. i put it back in last night becuase i was driving around with no music, and i turn on the radio and theres like a loud kind of static noise and a little clicking out of both speakers. i start the engine and theres a chit TON of engine noise. sounds like my speakers are turbo'd or something lol. i mean its LOUD. im like chit, the mtx amp finally broke?? so first i try another set of RCA's...same thing so i go up stairs and grab one of the rf punch45's im selling, put that in, same thing. so its not the amps, and it does it on both amps with 2 sets of RCA's, on both speakers. so its not the speakers, rca's or amps. maybe its the HU...im gonna stop by robins when i have time and through his 880 in and see if it still happens, if not ill know its my HU..i liked the 880 too. but whats weird is the tweeter i have hooked to the actual HU amp, plays fine. so its gotta be something with the RCA outputs...maybe ill try the rear outs since i only tried 2 sets of rca's on the front outputs.... ideas?

(2x) 100.2s or (1x) 100.4
for the time being, my pioneer 880 will be the xover. when i put that back in my explorer, will be when i finish the CarPuter in the mini, and i can run a crossover and eq software.

heres pics of the amps im buying today

(2x) 100.2s or (1x) 100.4
yea now that i think about it, since i cant fit the 100.4s behind my seats like the 100.2s will be, that means ill have 2 100.4s in the back, along with 2 3000ds. the 3000s take up 75% of the room, plus batteries, so no way im fitting more than 1 100.4 behind the wall. 100.2s it is.

(2x) 100.2s or (1x) 100.4
also a 100.4 wont fit behind my seats there. they are 16.5" long i believe, and the new pre order 100.4s are going to be 1.5" longer on top of that. i only have about 16.5" TOTAL width, and the 100.2s are 13.375" long.

which way should i go. i have 16 mids for the MINI. all 8 ohm. 8 per door. they will be wired in pairs of 4, in parallel, making each set of 4 mids a 2 ohm load. so its either 2 100.2s, with 8 mids per amp (basically 1 amp per door) running each channel at 2 ohms or 1 100.4, running 4 mids per channel, at 2 ohms. the 100.2 is rated 200 x 2 @ 2 ohms the 100.4 is rated 160 x 2 @ 2 ohms i know the 100.2 is supposedly a little more underrated than the 100.4 is, but i found a good deal (IMO) on 2 100.2s, bnib for 370 shipped. what do you guys think?

the holes line up pretty good. some are off by like barely 1/16", nothing you will ever be able to see when comparing both doors couldnt get these 3 with the drill press (wouldnt reach to the center of the circle) so i had to jigsaw them out. got circles? this did all the hard work (cutting the circles) thanks again robin

since i cant decide how i want the amp rack, i started working a little on the door panels. they arent going to be hard at all to make, since its just a flat panel, not 16 individual rings (i wanted a flat panel) cut the hole for the door handle. lol @ me in the relfection cut out the passenger one oh chit...

GOOD FRIGGIN' NEWS!!!!!
these 2 statements totally contradict each other sorry, not thinking at full capacity, probably benching about 3 iq. didn't sleep last night, med problems. i am gonna get a cadence amp, 3200w, unless anyone thinks i should fork over the green for a 3kd? i just picked up a brand new 2008 model sundown 3000d for 625 picked up....love it and great price. the amp is a BEAST. heres an idea. get a 1500d and run that, then u can get another and strap them if you feel you need the extra power.

other side is cut out didnt feel like changing the bit on the router freebie (router table) $25 for this absolute worst piece of birch ive ever bought. same type and everything, wasent like this when i bought it, and it didnt get wet, but i guess just sitting in the garage (although the others didnt do this) it got messed up. oh well i still used it. just had alot of voids in it, but its just for a trim panel anyways. horrible- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
just gonna keep the stock alt. im gonna get 2-3 of the biggest batts i can, and upgrade the wire from the stock alt to the batts with a few runs of 1/0. reason for keeping stock alt: 1. very expensive to make one for my car, and its not going to be that much output anyways, just becuase of my car, they can make only like 180a ones.....for like upwards of 600$................. 2. even if i got a 300a alt, all my amps are still gonna draw more than 300a reguardless. why waste the money on one? unless they make like a 700-900a alt, theres no point. all its helping is charge the batts faster, and in reality, since the most i can get is a 180a alt on my car, its not worth 600+ dollars to gain 75amps more (stock is 105A) so, in my mind, unless you do like steve meade and run 4 alts and it adds up to the amperage that your amps are drawing, then its not worth it IMO. i mean sure itll help, but its not gonna make you NOT have current draw. its gonna happen, stock alt or HO alt, either way.- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
the box alone, fine. with those 15" BLs and the sundown 3000d, a little noticeable difference.. when i put 18s in and 2 3000ds, 2 100.2s, 1 100.4, 2-3 batts, 16 6.5s and 16 tweeters and alot of 1/0 wire prally wont move. LOL- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
this wire is the only access to my trunk. the power lock mechanism broke (ok, i broke it) so i use the manual release and i didnt have anything to extend it at the moment, so i used speaker wire, and when i permantly put the floor of this wall in, i forgot to extend it with something other than wire. its also tied on there in a double knot. if it ever comes undone, ill be pulling a steve meade and breaking my rear window with an 18" sub) the sub is only in my 2 screws, so yes, the gasket on the sub fits in the flush mount fine, its a tight fit but it fits. - mini cooper wall thread, version 2
