ok I picked up a cheap Pioneer DEH-3600 to put into my car for the time being. I installed it with no problems. I hook up my 4 channel amp to it and start up my car....BAM!!! terrible, terrible whine from my speakers. I started to troubleshoot and right now I have the problem isolated to bad alternator whine coming from the HU. Goddamn it. Looks like Im going to have to strip some speaker wire and ghetto ground the pre-outs on the HU. After all this trouble, I think Im going to forget about another Pioneer HU, no matter how great it is.
