sub box help
Yes, that is exactly waht hes saying. Polyfill is an insulation like product that makes the driver think the enclosure is bigger than it really is.

alternator?
I dont think he needs two alts for a single 3500 watt amp. That seems a little excessive. I planned on using my 250 amp mechman for the SAZ4500D. Matt told me it would do just fine.

Good amps for 3 10's RE SRX
Welcome dude. A 1k watt amp. Sundown... Is the pre-order sale still going on for the SAE-1200D V.2? That'd be a good deal.... Hopefully they are dual 2 ohm drivers so he can run them at 1.34 ohms. Finding an amp to do 1krms at 1ohm should be a piece of cake. For the 1200D...The thread doesnt say anything about December pricing but an email to Jacob will clear that up.

Doubling amp power
Thats not going to kill an alternator. Before buying anything else, you sould seriously consider if you are going to buy a new ride. Dont want to waste money on something you dont really like.

Hell has frozen over?
These abnormally cold temps here have crushed all dreams I may have had for living in a place with snow in the winter. This is fnucking cold and Im in a Cali valley. I thought I liked the cold better than the heat. I was wrong.

Whats taking Fi so long for a shipping update?
It happens. Cant wait for the build log as I wanted to see these in a good pic when they were on sale. If you dont like them after the install, you know where to off them at.

Whats taking Fi so long for a shipping update?
You Wanna Split 'Em With Me If He Does? I wanted four for myself! Screamin deal. At four the price went down from $65 to $55 a pop. Almost had four Fi drivers at my door for $265! Damn!

Which One?
If you want to amplify your front stage, you should buy another amp. I suggest a four channel for maximum flexibility. The SAX100.4 is a great amp for that. I own one myself.

Alt chevy Lumina
Yeah he was it was kinda funny he sounded as if he were drunk. that's what im planning on Ya, I was picturing a Hank Hill, only without the accent. Kinda wierd that a company with the reputation for quality alts has people like that answering the phone. Cool beans dude. Put some pics up of the install when you do it.

Help with chosing a system, been a while since ive been into systems
The fusing will depend on whether or not the amp you are using has onboard fusing. Also fusing right after the first battery, under the hood. I fuse this for the wire itself and generally use a 250-350 amp fuse on 1/0 ga. I personally use 350 and have used 250 in the past but you can surely get by with less. With multiple batteries, you want to fuse after the last battery close to the batt like under the hood. The amp really depends on your budget to give some suggestions. For 2 BLs I would be looking for an amp that does 2k rms at 1 ohm. Of course BTLs are good but thats pretty subjective. A lot of drivers can be good.

Welcome to the IHoP
I just got back from watching my daughter perform in her 6th grade class dance routine. Some dude name Tony Crane comes to the school to teach the kids a dance routine, then all the parents and family buy tickets to watch the show. A little fundraiser kind of a thing I guess. She was the leader in the front row, middle spot. They were holding batons and she and about three others busted the old kid n play over the stick! Twice! I couldnt believe it! She said she was nervous for a move but wouldnt tell me what it was. That was sick dudes.

Help with chosing a system, been a while since ive been into systems
i expect many of these things to be expensive, all systems ive had up to this point were cheap (trying to look cool) systems, so i plan on putting around 1500 but not more then 2k into this system. i have aftermarket door speakers and i have 6x9s that i wanna take out of my old car to put in this Well $2k for 2k rms is gonna be tight. Will you be building the enclosure yourself. I know shops always want way too much. You will save a lot that way. thats where i was going to have to put some thought into, i have an ok box already from my bros old system. im a pretty good carpenter so i could build my own, i just kind of dont feel like it. i wouldnt go to a shop for an encloser tho. im just interested in the wiring, sub, amp, and alt/+ battery. You should feel like it. These drivers deserve their own boxes. Whats the dimensions of the old enclosure you have already? ok ill look into making my own, any tips on size and type of wood and whether it actually needs carpet or not (although ill probably put some if it doesnt make a difference cuz i prefer the look) for the box? and when hooking up the battery, is it just positive to positive and negative to negative? or do i ground the negative and do positive to positive? do i split at the alt. or do i split from the original battery? Always use at least 3/4" wood when building an enclosure for a subwoofer. For the type of wood, you have a couple choices. Plywood can be used and is the cheapest but the weakest of all. MDF is the norm and it provides excellent results. Very sturdy product when built right. Birch is stronger than MDF but more expensive. Moving away from wood you can get into plexiglass. It is sick to look at and very, very solid to build with. Only drawback is it is about $250-300 for a 4x8 sheet! Yes, it is pos to pos and neg to neg. You can ground the neg in a proper area when it doesnt make sense to run a long wire.

Alt chevy Lumina
When I got a quote from ohio, some guy was going off too about other companies and asking me if the other companies Im looking at give bench tested power specs. He was a little odd but ohio too much for me. Something like $475. I got mine on sale from mechman earlier in the summer for $300. You got a good price for the alt from DC Power. Id go with that one too.

Rockford Fosgate, The Punch Classic, 10"
In order to cut down on wood to save on costs, I would start with a sealed box. Probably about 1.25-1.5cuft. If you dont like that, you can cut out a hole for a pvc port and tune it to what sounds best to you. The specs say to tune at 40hz and above.

How do you remove carpet from a box?
I guess it depends on how it was applied. Was it stapled on? Or was it glued on, by say like 3M 77 super adhesive? If its the latter, Id say its going to be a bitch. It will most likely leave a layer on the enclosure so you might have to sand it off.

what sub is available for this?
Ive heard these are excellent in small enclosures. SS RLi10 The 8s fit the enclosure space you are looking for a little better though.

Help with chosing a system, been a while since ive been into systems
Welcome and glad you could join us , as long as the install and enclosure is right then the setup will slam and sound good regardless the equipment usually. Dont get a capacitor, you will need to get a good sized secondary battery, an HO Alternator and do the Big 3 for starters. If you want two BL's then either amp that does 2000 watts or 3000watts at 1 ohm will do fine, just make sure you order your subs to D1 ohm so they can be wired down to a final 1 ohm load. So what am i going to be looking at if im going to be buying a new battery and alternator. Also what is the big 3? and how do i put in another alternator, im pretty mechanically inclined and i kno about an alternator but i dont kno much about putting another one in. thanks You mean how much for all that? The alt you have to get a quote on because they arent all the same price per vehicle. They are generally easy to change also. Batteries can be as cheap as $100-200 depending on size. The big 3 is adding larger wire than stock to important places. Alt pos to batt pos. Alt ground to chassis. Battery neg to chassis. You will want to use 1/0 wire.
