09 SIVERADO SUBS
Hence the reason why I said blow-thru. The enclosure is in the bed of the truck, not in the back seat. iwork construction and need all the bed space i can get. i guess i just wanted to know if anyone sold a slim 12 that would give alot of bass. or if there were better 8s i could run in the space i have, better than the REs i have now. i have plenty of amp just need subs that bump hard in the limited space im working with Well without more space, you get no more bass. It really doesnt matter what driver it is. If thats all the space you have, it just wont work. 5.5" of height is not enough to work with to get the amount of bass you want. Back to the drawing board dude.

2 Sundown Z15+RD 2200.1 Build
Jacob recommends 3-3.25 ft3, tuned between 32 and 35hz. I would say the standard 12-16 sq in of port area to every cuft. So if you are doing 6 ft3, then about 72-96 sq in of port area total. I have one of these in 3.25ft3 enclosure, tuned to 35hz. It sounds great with only about 400rms!

old btl vs new ?
You are correct about your assumptions on the SPL version. The daily is all you need. The SPL is definately not for music. Btw...the BTL will sound good.

Alternator took a crap...suggestions?
That sounds wierd not being able to get ahold of him. He always answered when I called and he even *69 me once about 5-10 min after closing time. He must be out of the shop for awhile.

Refurbs?
Db-r is good to go. There is nothing wrong with a refurb. Same stuff.

15 L7 spl enclosure
These are from Kicker: Frequency Response (Hz) 18-100 Max Rec Vented Box Volume (CU. Ft., Liters)** 6.0, 169.9 If you want nothing but SPL and dont care about the lows, then try a 5 ft3 box, tuned between 40-45hz. There wont be much sound quality but it will get plenty loud.

I would say ported since you threw loud in there, what are the max dimensions you have to work with (height x width x depth). About 36w x 15d x 24h i would think, i dont want to take up all the space, what fz in how many ft^3 and what port area Speaker facing up or back and should the port be facing in the same direction as the speaker Ported box: 1.8-2.5 cuft @ 28-33Hz. As with what direction to face the sub and port, its all guess and check. Could you be more specific, it's my first time building a ported box and does it needs to be braced using a 1" face board an 3/4" for the rest of the enclosure. More specific about what? Use the link here to build your box. It can come in handy for a beginner. It will tell you exactly what sizes to cut and how many. Flip flop the numbers around to get exactly the right size and tuning for the driver and you will be fine. No bracing or 45's in the corners. Just a nice simple box to learn from. The only thing it doesnt account for is the double baffle top if needed. http://www.reaudio.com/speaker_box/LPort_Box_Calc.html

Is it a closed case style? Ive seen a few open case in some pics and they definately look sexier than mechman but if it at works the same...

09 SIVERADO SUBS
Of course it will. If you have the space and want it louder, than put them in a ported enclosure. Trying a different enclosure before buying new drivers is the smart way to go. Just make sure its to RE specs. SO THEN WOULD TWO 8S IN A PORTED BOX HIT HARDER THAN 4 8S IN A SEALED BOX? I would say the 4 8's would be louder but it is all dependent on installation and enclosure. It sounds like you have space problems. Ever thought about doing a blow thru? I imagine you want to keep the back seat.

Question about Sealed Enclosure for Q 18
Not every box will be the same so neither will the results. The smaller the box, the tighter the bass response. The larger the box, the boomier the bass will sound. I think polyfill is intended for smaller enclosures but Ive never used it personally. It makes it seem as if the enclosure were larger than it really is. Thank you for your reply. I had read somewhere that a smaller box would result in a boomier sound, and it also looked that way using WinISD, but didn't look to be that much different from a larger box. So by tighter bass response, what exactly does this mean? Thanks again Tighter meaning a sharp, punchy type of bass. Very clear.

What fi sub is good with 1000 watts
I'm thinking about getting 2 BL 10s and as far as im willing to go with it not to sure have about $1000 to spend as of right now One blt does sound nice but would i need a different amp?.There is no beef with down firing it just one of my w6 ripped the cone on it from hitting the floor. There is a raise part for support on the bottom of the cab witch the sub was mounted behind but i think my boxed moved causing it to hit that witch made it rip the cone around the foam and its 250 each sub to get them coned ( still waiting for them to come back) it was my fault for not checking to box to see if it moved. But is did sound good. A blt does sound pretty tasty right now...but really a BTL would be great without having to change the amp. 1000rms will still have the BTL singing loud. Just make sure you have enough clearance next time.

suggestion on 12" subs in a ported box
Guess and check is the only answer.
