  1. Pretty sure i could FART a 110dB+... It doesn't take much IMO to even hit a 140+ with a 15" even without a ton of power... I hit well over 140 with an HDC315 and like 1200 watts
  2. Shouldn't say "new" i guess I have had this setup for about 6-8 months or so...
  3. here is the back side of the BOSE enclosure: Here is my old setup (Eclipse Coaxials). just hacked the front of the BOSE enclosure to fit the 5.25" and the 3" fit in the stock speaker location: uploading the new setup...
  4. the entire trunk is deadened along with the trunk lid and rear deck. The cadillac had factory deadening on the doors and there is WAY too much stuff there to remove it and replace with something else... The front speakers are in a "box" of sorts but it isn't completely sealed so i guess it's not really a box... IDK... Basicaly I mad some fiberglass pods and left the rear part of the factory BOSE box in place ... I will see if i have pics so may be it will make more sense... The rear speakers are just sitting in the rear deck, used some 3/4" plexi I had laying around to make the adapter plates from 6X9 to 6.5" and a 1" tweeter...
  5. OK. I know this is a HORRIBLE post and probably an open ended question... I am wondering what can be added to my setup to make it better "overall"? I am seeing a bunch of stuff about things which i have never heard of and am currently researching a few different things to see if something might be missing. My main thing is the speakers or rather all the settings on the amp for the speakers. Last time i was getting ready to install my system i just turned the volume ot the max I would ever play it and then started screwing with the amp until it sounded good. IIRC i had it switched to HPF and then just started tweeking the freq. and such until it stopped sounding like ass and popping but I KNOW that probably isn't the right way to do it...? I am not looking ot change anything as far as mids or amps but might look into some new tweeters... Mainly just seeing if there is a way to improve my current setup rather than buying new stuff... Here is my setup: 1999 Cadillac Eldorado Touring Coupe Clarion DXZ576USB 4) SoundStream TRC.6n's Crunch P1800.4 Mach5 SPL15 5ft^3 net @ 40hz~ Memphis 4KW 4/0 power and grounds Big 3 in 2/0 Ohio Generator 300A alt. with tiny pulley pair of BatCap 2000's in the trunk (all 2/0 connecting those and going to the amp)
  6. Would it be OK to tell you I love you?!?!?!? "it's so easy, a caveman can do it!" Seriously though, ran about 10 of those "free box designs" through it and it seems to be dead on as you said! Now I can stop asking for a positive answer as to what my boxes are tuned to. I really appreciate you sharing this with us! After checking the box I had planned to use for my SPL15 it was tuned to almost 50hz now I can build my 40hz~ box with no concerns!

not really sure what you are saying there...? I am not planning on useing a H/T subwoofer if thats what you are saying? BUMP In your thread title it states you want something for Home Theater. In that box NO sub will be a Home Theater sub. Generically speaking the difference between a music sub and a home theater sub is the box. AH.... Got It... I assumed because ti was designed by professionals speccificaly for home theater use that it would be good for... well, home theater use anyone know of something like this that would work? some sort of pre-designed box or something?

SPL is my goal just as in my car... my budget is... uhm... LOW! Pretty much the reason i was looking at that box, I was hoping i could get away with using a cheaper sub and amp right off hand I am thinking an MTX Thunder4500 15" or Kicker C15 or a Volfenhag 15" all about the same price $75~ shipped and then probably pick up a computer power supply and run a car amp since you can get more power cheaper that way... somethign like a P.A. BAMF-2000/1D or an SPL brand... somethign that claims like a TON of power but might get me like 500~ rms for like $100~
  10. What subs that you need 20ft^3 net?? just cursious
  11. OK... Thanks! I was going to ask that but now i don't have to So it should look something like this...
  12. The only other reply i got was that it looks like 47Hz so you must be close... as for sub displacement, i have no idea, it's a Mach5 SPL15... I guess I can just tweak the port on the RE calculator so it says it is tuned to about 36hz~ and that should get me to the actual 40hz-42hz I am looking for.... Kinda of a crappy way of doing it but i thikn that 46hz is a little too high... 40hz`42hz is my basic goal. Just looking for an SPL monster
  13. how does this look? Used the RE calculator and it is confusing me a little bit. It is saying 4.58ft^3 volume with 105 sq.in. of port but when i do the math I get the volume shown in the box (in the drawing)... Sayd the tuning is 42Hz~ which is exactly what I am looking for but I wanted to make sure everything is good since I am getting conflicting numbers on teh box volume... Box is for a Mach5 SPL15
  14. Ended up going with a Mach5 SPL15
  15. SPL... plain and simple... did the math and i have 6.2ft^3 to work with (that is after subtracting the wood thickness of the outer walls of the box ONLY) so after port and sub diplacement probably something around 4.5ft^3~???
  16. Now i need to know what to do with it... Or rather what box size/tuning would be good. As well as how much power it can handle daily. I have about 6ft^3 (before any deductions) total to work with and about 4Kw RMS as well...
  17. WELL, I have had it up for trade for quite some time and have only had like 3-4 offers and IMO the Havo18"/KX1200.1 is the best offer i have had so far. Only thing is I can't fit an 18" unless i go slanted front baffle and I have a monster recone coming from TeamPSI for a different motor i have so... IDK, sometimes i wish the damn car audio bug would have never bit me!
  18. Then again your opinion might be a little biased
  19. Basicaly wonderind if the Havoc would be a good SPL subwoofer and I was stating for comparison (as to what i think a good SPL subwoofer is) that i liked the HDC315 and was wondering if that would compare to the HDC315... I know it is kind of a truciky question due to box specs and other info. Just in general would the Havoc 18" and a KX1200.1 be a descent SPL setup capable of the sound I am looking for
  20. OK... Thinking about gettting an 18" Havoc. I have been through a few different setups but still the one i miis most and compare everything to is my HDC315 setup a had a while back. Pretty simple as it was right when i started getting into car audio more. It was an HDC315 in a 4.5ft^3 box tuned to 42hz. running on a Planet Audio VX2200D at 1ohm with NO electrical upgrades, no rear deck proting, no sound deadenging etc... hit just under a 143dB. I have had a few different subs since including Atomic APX15, RE XXX, MTX RFL, Execution 15" etc... but nothing i thought was comparable really to the HDC315 as far as just plain hurting your entire body and making you want ot jump out of the car... (if you are wondering why i don't just go back to AQ it is because i have no money at the moment, just the XXX to trade. Otherwise i would rock a pair of HDC312's for sure!!) ANYWAYS... I have since upgraded a LOT of stuff and here is my sub stage setup: 300A alt. 4/0 power wire 2) BatCap 2000's all 2/0 wiring in the trunk Memphis 4Kw sound deadened the trunk as well (2-3 layers depending) Now I am an SPL guy... none of that "loud sound quality" bullshit spoken here, I just want LOUD and aggresive, car flexing bass! Would the SS Havoc 18" be something worth trying out? I would be trading my 2008 RE XXX 15" for it.... My only real concern is that I would pretty much be wasting the amp as i would have to crank it down pretty far to kepe the Havoc alive...
  21. Out of curiosity, what was/is your MOS? 31 Bravo here.... (thats MP for the civi's) (thats Military Police for the dumb dumbs)

    yeah, thats it...
  23. sounds like fun
  24. k_schutte replied to k_schutte's topic in Home Audio
Also, I did consider using a car audio amp and a bigger sub but not sure how well that works out. I mean, if i don't sell the RE XXX 15" I will have that laying around and it would be one hell of a H/T subwoofer!! plteny of box room and a nice low tune should be pretty sweet. May be grab a cheaper amp that would do like 1000~ rms
