125.2 heat problem
the 2150 is on one side of the truck, where the ends of the amps where the connections are, are on the other end, shorter to just ground to the frame. but i will make 1 solid short ground for the 125.2 straight to the frame, and if it still gets warm then it is what it is i guess, but never once has it shut off on me, but damn did it ever get boiling hot lol

125.2 heat problem
gain is set at about 1/4 way. not even close to 1/2. so im pretty sure gain is fine, i can go full tilt and no distortion. i can not put fans into the floor, i put stuff on top, and if i ever build a new box (only running 2 8's right now) the box would cover the full floor, and cover the fans up. and to tell you the truth, these fans move some decent air, i dont think thats really the problem. all connections are good and solid, other then the ground, its running about 3.5 feet long, with a coupling between (was short when installing) so its either the ground, or like you guys say, air movement. if thats the case i think i will have to turn the 1 80mm fan, and make it blow out from under the floor. and if i have to add a 2nd 80mm (dont really want to, loud enough with the fans i have in now).. also everything is on a relay right now, so everything is getting powered off the relay not right off the h/u power.

125.2 heat problem
the false floor is just a piece of wood ontop of feet, both ends are wide open. and the floor cant go, no where to put the amps.

125.2 heat problem
yes, so hot you have to take you can only touch it for a few seconds, so i think i may try a new ground first, any other suggestions?

125.2 heat problem
cant cut holes. i have 2 batteries running my set up, odyssey 1500 in front, 2150 in the back. and the 125.2 is seeing 4 ohm loads. i know it should run hotter, but i dont think it should be running that hot lol, also ive been told to redo the ground for it, so im thinking maybe doing a short ground straight to the frame of the truck

125.2 heat problem
ok to start off i have a 99 s10 ext cab, with a false floor in the back, under it is a saz 2K, and a 125.2. i started with only about 1" of air space above the amps before the floor, then i found out the 125.2 was getting soo hot i could not even touch it, but would never go into thermal (protect). also that was getting that hot within a 10-15min drive. i also found that it only got hot at high volumes. so today i raised the floor up 3/4" i have about 2" of air space now above the 125.2, i also added right beside the amp blowing over it, a 120mm and a 80mm fan, on the other end of the floor i have a single 80mm blowing over my 2K, as i found it really didnt get that hot. (its about 30-40 degrees with humidity over here). now on the drive home i found that within about 15 min the amp was getting pretty hot still. i have my amps on a relay, and i have the fans hooked up to the remote wire for the 125.2. im going camping this weekend coming up and my truck will be blasting music all weekend, so i want to get this cooling issue fixed before i leave. thanks!!

are the sa-12's going to be in stock, or are they all spoken for? also will we have to ask for the boots, or will each subwoofer come with one?
- External port

External port
where from inside of the flare through? just before it flares out?
-
External port
i just went to 12volt.com used there little calc. i came up with this. the box is 1.44 cubes, single 4" aero port, for 30 hz = 23" port, for 35hz = 16" port. does that sound about right? also, when you cut the pipe for the port, the port should be measured from tip to tip of the flares correct, so for 16" port, that should be 16" from tip of flare to tip of flare correct?
-
External port
thats the calc. im using, but when you punch in any number for external port, it does nothing to change tuning.
-
External port
how do you guys figure out how long an external port needs to be? is there a website or program i can plug numbers into? im using the box calc. from "torres" and plugging in the external port numbers doesn't change tuning. please help, thanks

a little delima
well it seems that for me to get sa-12's over here in canada is more pricey then i thought, so i guess its on to building a 5th box.... any suggestions from the pros? ive have had so many mix opinions on what to build and tune and box size and what way to fire them that so far nothings really turned out.
-
a little delima
well thats what i was thinking, maybe because the nightshade is more spl oriented, its not able to do what i want it to, thats why i was thinking the sa-12's... my port is 5.5 x 16.5 and 26.5" long (total, not physical length)
-
a little delima
oh no, i should have stated, this is not for numbers, i am curious, but could care less, thats why im tuned so low.
-
a little delima
to start i will tell you what i have.... 99 s10 ext cab. 2 15" nightshades v1, saz 3500D, current box is wedge syle, 7 cubes at 31hz, 90.75 sq inches of port, slot port firing up along the back. now ive tried a few things and many box's, i haven't been able to make it loud on the lows, and sound clean, its loud, but its not clean sounding to me. ive tried tuning higher, but then it wont hammer the lows like i wanted it to. so im debating on trying some aero ports, or selling these and buying 4 sa-12's and hoping the play better? what do you guys suggest i do?, also to describe the sound i hear is like a chuffing sound, and gets worse with window open. very hard to explain but thats about the best i could do.

Key To Hair Trick
i have only 90 sq inches of port on mine, so i would like to see what the more port does for you
-
Key To Hair Trick
yea id say tune low, in a 7 cube box, port area not to sure of as im not sure if more or less port area is best.
-
Key To Hair Trick
yea, depends really on what you want also, i tried a few different tunes with my set up as ppl always said at 32 hz i was tuned to low, so i tuned higher and didnt like it, didnt hit the lows like i wanted it to, so i tuned it to 31 hz and was wayy better for me.

Key To Hair Trick
holly port, i have 2 15" nightshades on a 3500, and my box is 7 cubes, 90.75 sq inches of port, tuned to 31 and pull mini hair tricks, full window down and can get hair to move to the top of the door, im not saying its bad ass, but it just shows you dont need a massive port to move some hair around. now i never tried running a big port, but im just saying what mine has, and what it does, but i think it has to do with the vehicle also. mines in a s10 ext cab truck so not much space inside the vehicle. but i am interested on seeing how yours turns out! p.s wouldent you want to tune low, as high fq doesn't move air like low fq does?
