  1. X2. Just because someone upgraded and was louder for them doesn't mean it will be for you. Different vehicles, electrical, and enclosures. If it were me I would build a new box first. Ha, you would build a new box anyway, and then another , then another, lol, X3 lot's of varibles....... let dizzle build you a few boxes, he is addicted to building them anyway!
  2. too cool, kinda how i met my best bud mdizzle...... helps you keep hope, you know!
  3. you are so into this, too cool.
  4. watching, waiting on ours, guessing first of the week. looking good.
  5. I really am into it, would like to know how them Mach 5's treat you once you get them up and going! nice box.
  6. i like it.......... that was my 20 bucks though! lol
  7. ... and i have a feeling that it is not the last thing that will break from the pressure, lol.
  8. probably going in the wrong direction with this question but..... is that gp line good stuff then? kinda easy to get a hold of for us broke folks!
  9. surely something for the smart guys to marvel at... my sorry a** can't even pronounce the name, lol
  10. no problem, your looking better ......... now the wait, then more questions, lol.
  11. i am not a box guru, but the guys that are .......they are not going to even post a response to this thread without alot more info.... vehicle type, space useable (like overall dimensions), a link that works for specs on subs, number of subs ( one could assume two, but that whole assume thing..) well you know. the 21 hz is pretty dang low.......perhaps too low for what you need. i would suggest loading this post with info ( the guru's love that stuff) and then see what they come up with for you. good luck ,chop.
  12. x2, I was about to say the same thing if they have grills leave them and if not, go buy some grills or find a cheap solution to cover up the holes (Im sure you can since your in car audio. But Im definantly not tripping about thread jacking since its about the same topic and I would suggest that you take the rear deck speckers out there will be a nice sound difference but nothing to do back flips over (just more bass in the cabin, those 6x9's are being drowned out by those subs anyways). M5, one more quick question since me and you are both agreeing with the fact that Eminence Alpha-6C's are more mid-range should I keep the settings on my amp the same so I wont ruin the spakers (LPF Filter x10 @ 5,000Hz and Sub Sonic 150Hz or better)? Or would they benefit more on High Pass? I had the sub sonic filter around 80-100Hz and didnt like that so last nite I bumped it up some and it sounds better with less strain on the speakers. thanks fellas i'll let you know how it turns out
  13. 187's ordered will be here toward end of the week........going to foam trunk tomorrow. and get some pics of the cougar
  14. uh, i, uh well no, no wait, my friend, yeah, a friend of mine said how does this work....pre-sale? do you get amp now or do you have to wait? sorry he is a complete noob !
  15. picture might help us give you recommendations i wish i had them... i will repost in a few days w/ pics on hand.... i don't wanna cloud up jay-cee's thread, thanks.
  16. id recommend you remove the rear fill unless you absolutely need it.... "lithium" i like your thought on the temp removal as a gauge of effectiveness....... the rear deck is white vinyl as is all the interior, highly visible through clear glass, the 6x9 rear fill is almost more cosmetic than anything. trying to create a compromise here and budget is definitly on low side of things.......... i think bear still has his first dollar framed somewhere, lol. oh i guess i should mention the 6x9's are top mount....removal would result in holes.
  17. man Jay-cee, i hope this doesnt seem like a thread jack, but i noticed you mentioning the removal of the rear deck speakers and increase in bass in the cabin....... i also noticed that you got a couple of the big dogs watching your thread , lol, so between your experiance thus far or perhaps someone elses experiance that is watching, i was hoping to get some opions on this matter. we have a 1977 cougar that we are putting a sub box in the trunk of. we went with twoof the IA 187's 12" subs, did a sub up /port back type enclosure, useing 3 4" aero ports, so we have 5.1 cubes and tuned to 33.25hz. the rear deck is white vinyl and currently has two sets of 6" X 9" s in it.... the option of removing them is really not one we want to chase. i have thought of two possible solutions , perhaps you could weigh in on. one is to add a 6" port in the middle to allow bass into the cabin.... cosmetically this would be somewhat appealing to the eye , being centered between the exsistng 6x9's. would it be very effective though.? the other option is perhaps remove the seat cushion at the top brackets and let it come forward 1" and then add a block like surface to keep it forward in a few spots.... this would not be too noticeable at one inch, the width of the seat, would it do the trick for the bass? wich would you choose? thanks chop sorry for bad spelling
  18. alrighty then, lol. will want to see that two 12's build!
  19. so do you still have this car, or is it the golf now? i see you have the sub and sub amp crossed off also. just curious what you got going..... seeing how i have zero!
