  1. its no problem bro thats why the forums are here. i think u might want to go a little bit bigger sealed box, maybe 2.25 just so it has some breathing room. but either way if u want sq sealed is the way to go. also idk if ur dead set on fi but the xcon from ssa is supposed to be wicked loud sealed and sound great while being loud. just throwing it out there...but i believe they are more expensive too.
  2. yea ur right, i figured he would go ported tho beings that his 10 was ported. but yea a 15 would work in a 2 cube enclosure. but wouldnt a 12 in an optimal ported box be better than a 15 in a bare minimum sealed box?
  3. i have heard many of w6s and i owned a q 18 and the q sounded better to me. there are also alot of things to consider when doing a comparison though such as install, box, and settings of the amp and headunit. but for the price i would stick with a q 12 since 2 cubes isnt very much for a 15...but is perfect for a 12. if i were you i would try building a smaller box for the 10 since i believe a smaller box will make it sound less boomy and will make it more tight...also the box u have it in might be tuned too low.
  4. i have a 10" Bl fully loaded and its a monster...just my .02
  5. lol i have been looking online for like 40 minutes and havnt found a yellow top for less than 140 brand new.
  6. do you still have the w7s? if you do i think youd be better off upgrading your electrical, getting more power, and building a more efficient box. those subs are very capable of getting louder than what you said they were before I was pleased (VERY PLEASED) with the output from the w7's. I sold them with my old vehicle. I'm starting from scratch... do you have any electrical upgrades? and if you dont, would these possible upgrades have to fit into the $1500 budget? As of now, the vehicle is completely stock. It's got an 8 speaker bose system that I'm ok with having for now. I was planning on using only the 1K or 1.5K amp so my electrical upgrades would not have to include a new alternator. If i could keep it under $1500 that would be awesome, but I understand that with this hobby prices can swell very quickly... I'l tell you what im about to hook my friend up with, because he has a similar budget to you, and i think this will outdo your old setup. 1 fully loaded 15" BTL shipped to your door approximately $500. AQ2200D, $350 shipped to your door. so bam, right off the bat, you got your sub and amp situation in the clear for $850. So that leaves $650 for electrical. for a 2K watt amp like that your gonna need 200+ amp alternator, which im guessing will run you around 400- 500 bucks maybe? then i'd say 2 optima yelowtops, cuz theyre fairly cheap around 80 bucks a pop, then a 0 gauge wiring kit which is like 200 bucks on sonicelectronix and some extra 0 guage for the big 3. so that puts you at around 1800, putting you 300 dollars over budget. if you dont wanna go over budget at all, i'd say roll with an AQ1200d instead, and just 1 yellowtop with no h/o alt, and a 4 guage kit, which would probably set you at 1000 bucks instead of 1800. but it all really depends how much you wanna bang. But a BTL on 1k watts is still going to be pretty loud in a maxima anyways. its all on how much you wanna spend. EDIT: the reason i recommend the btl, is because i own a BL and am very pleased. i can only imagine the BTL to be fairly similar to the BL, and much much more. where the hell are you getting yellow tops for 80 bucks? lol
  7. yes they are 60 bucks but they are supposed to be the sound quality line. and the shop that did the box is a pretty good shop, they put out quality boxes and installs not like the other shop in town lol...but like i said before it could very well be the box they are in.
  8. that is great to hear, kinda sux its scuffed up and that the amp wasnt found but at least you got something back.
  9. pics or ur a liar!!!
  10. lol at bromo. i have had a type r and it got pretty damn loud. it really depends on the enclosure, but the type r was definately a beast for the price. i have never heard a cvx tho.
  11. How can you say if someone would be happier with something over another if you've no experience with the other product? i have a buddy who has 2 12" ppi pcx's in his extended cab 1500 and they dont sound very good at all...to me they were sloppy sounding. it could have been the install but according to him the box was built to the recommended specs, and it was all installed by a shop locally.
  12. alright thanx. post back and let us know what you chose.
  13. honestly just check out the ssa store, then check out fi car audio and i guarentee u can find something in your price range that will sound amazing. you could look into the fi q's or the ssa icon, sundowns sa-12...the list goes on but those are the top 3 in my head for great sounding and fairly loud. and i have personally owned the fi q 18" and it was loud as hell and sounded amazing.
  14. not too many people on this site are gonna know much about the subs that arent on this site. why dont u take a look at some of the stuff right here on this forum. you will most likely be much happier.
  15. it will be like 33 or 34 after sub displacement but u wont really notice a difference
  16. you would probably be better off going out and getting a battery charger...i have never heard anybody do this but it might be possible bc its basically jump startin
  17. why is it that you use a 15 instead of an 18? just wondering
  18. did u use the re calculator to build ur box?
  19. actually if ur going sealed, u could def use the box u found made by bassworx. a sealed box is a sealed box. its in the optimal size range recommended by fi so it will work great. building ur own box is probably cheaper, but not if u have to go out and buy all the tools and stuff so yea if u got the money i would order that box. plus it looks great.
  20. o. didnt know about the protection circuits.
  21. yea but if the amp is 2 ohm stable or even 1 ohm stable he could have had the sub wired up to too low of an impedance and burned the amp up.
  22. what kinda deck r u running? and what kinda sub?
  23. its really install dependant, jacob just did a 150.7 on his single sa-8.
