de de de? Never understood it myself. Same thing with matching appliances in the kitchen. Buy what works for your budget, not something that matches. Not like its bitches doing the buying, or is it??

'80 Corvette Install
If he thinks it'll be worth something get some other door cards to cut up. He'll always be able to sell the custom ones

'80 Corvette Install
And bouncing a mdrange is far from trivial. Too much of a compromise if you ask me. Personally i'd cut the door. Not like an 80 will ever be worth anything and I am sure a repro or junk yard card can't be that spendy

The 4x6's are the limiting factor. If he won't change the front mounting locations I wouldn't bother at all.

Then you need more processing first. An amp isn't going to cut it, NOT even close.

Fatmat Rattle Trap?
Oh, puke. Again, really??? If you read above you'd realize that BEFORE it fell off the adhesive had detiorated and basically failed. With no adhesive you get NO deadening. As for the multiple layers, you are constraining surface motion of the surface you bond to. If there is a layer in between how do you expect it to constrain it? Sort of like wearing a plastic glove and washing your hands with soap, do your hands get clean? No, the soap doesn't touch your hand so it doesn't work. Same process applies. Its a complete shit product with BS advertising. Makes me sick that people buy into it and believe they are getting something that is cheaper and works. It may be cheaper, but its a waste of money.

How many of those non-isolated incidents were "proper" installs. Not disagreeing that the build quality isn't there, but there is a saying... As for what to do? 3 way passive systems blow goats IMO, unless you are diligent about mounting all the drivers really closely together. Putting one in the door is just not a good idea. 2 way systems there are a ton of options dependent on budget and processing and what you'd like. Keeping up is so subjective its hard to tell, it shouldn't be but most people don't care if their midbass rolls off. When I read keeping up its rather simple. If your sub/s are crossed at 50Hz (3dB down) then your midbass from your fronts should be able to output in such a way that at 50Hz they sum to 0dB like the rest of the system. Another way of saying this is that you'd have the same output at 40Hz as you do at 80Hz. Of course, with the amount of sub/s you are running that is pretty much impossible in particular if you are limited to a single driver. Since you have 8 subs you get to compromise. Your compromise will be in midbass. Considering such perhaps a horn and a near pro audio mid is your best choice.

Glad to have saved you money. Marketing is a bitch.

Sub Choice?
That's enclosure dependent and install dependent. Either way, not sure you are looking at the right things to help your install. If I were you and my goal were SQ and only had that budget, I'd forego the sub and spend it all up front. Be your biggest bang for the buck. Realistically having a sub only play the last octave is all you should need and its the least important part of the recording.

Sub Choice?
I currently have the DLS up6i's, SA SAX-125.2, and a Kenwood DDX-912. Even googling that Kenwood I come up with nothing... Even a simple 10" sealed will blend fine. No need to go overboard on the "SQ" driver. In fact, if you do, you'll probably end up harming it by turning it up too much.

Look great doesn't mean sound great. Overpriced hype.
-
is it bad to underpower mids and highs?
Yep, only bad part is if you don't realize that and crank the gain and volume and play all sorts of distortion through your fronts. Even then if the average power is low enough it won't cause harm, but it'll surely sound like shit.

Other than the diarrhea that is going around and I know cause I have it

Sub Choice?
What are the fronts you are trying to blend with and what processing etc do you have?
