  1. Go fill up your bathtub. Drop a rock or something on both sides of the tub at the same time. Make sure it is big enough so that it makes waves that go at least across the tub. Watch them interfere. Then realize water/air doesn't matter a wave behaves like a wave. Load/Push are not good terms. I also think you missed the word I used which was interfere. They will definitely have both constructive AND deconstructive interference. Neither are good in a sound system.

Not possible. Pick two: sensitivity, flat response, frequency bandwith Not saying the drivers are bad at all, but just saying he chose compromises albeit ones that I hope and expect are appropriate for car audio needs. Shouldn't be hard considering there are PA drivers that already chose those compromises It should of said "like other companies do." Most will only give you a high sensitivity and limited frequency bandwidth. Normally it isn't the other companies, but their customers. Usually multiple drivers and more complex active crossovers and processing are just fine and acceptable for pro audio applications. Huge stages with nice boundaries are the norm so the focus can be on output and the trade-off of using dedicated drivers for small percentages of the frequency response to achieve this output is not only acceptable but desirable.
  3. Ok, my thoughts are confirmed. The not hear yourself talking is usually caused by distortion, not volume. You'd be surprised at how high of a level music can be playing and still have voices be heard. Frequency masking doesn't have a really soft Q. That being said I just gave you the cue on how to get "loud" of course the rest of your request doesn't follow it so well.
  4. If 3' were as long as the ground could be then you would say the same for power. It is a "loop" what you don't want to do is put a weak link in it.
  5. Wow, ellipses and another reference to competition. Imagine that. You forgot the popcorn Randal. So far, I am surprised and not on the answers. Obviously goal dependent which you didn't define so that explains a few things. I'd encourage you to think about listening to something that will highlight the integration with the rest of your system as a test/setup CD.
  6. Frightening that in our society someone can be old enough to get a girl pregnant but not spell it.
  7. No. Don't use the word load. Will they interfere with each other? You bet. Is that a good thing? Not really.
  8. Why do you care what others like when you are what matters? Just an FYI. Full ranger refers to a single driver that plays the whole frequency spectrum (sub-bass usually excluded, but not always) and not a component set. That being said, I think your goals and plan is nuts. In a perfect world your front stage would play all of the frequencies meaning no need for a sub or any other drivers. That is not so easy to execute in a car though so you "get" to make compromises.

  10. I just picture your definition of loud and mine to be drastically different. Same with clear. For my tastes I expect that comp set to fail on the clear side and for you on the loud side, but that is just extrapolation.l

Big ass indeed. Was at the Ag school two days ago, holy shit.
  12. J, I think you are waffling through this for a few reasons. The car isn't ideal and is full of compromises, you have equipment that you bought nicely but may not be appropriate for your goals, and your goals and effort you are willing to put into this is unclear to me. While generically speaking I agree with Ryan as the biggest factor is the car, there are also ways to improve it a bunch but the amount of time dealing with the install and processing may beyond the effort you are willing to put in which would make it a rather bad idea. The other end of the spectrum is to just use what you have, but if it were me and I was paying for custom door panels I'd personally optimize my setup. I am an anal prick though when I pay for stuff so we may differ a bit.
  13. Path of least resistance is great, but you don't really need a DMM to understand where that is. If you have a framed vehicle the frame is a great start.
  14. And if you have to ask the question it is a pretty good sign that 2 is the choice as well.

There is no negative in PA sound, just a monster negative in poorly designed systems using PA drivers or poorly designed drivers. As for whether these will work for you is going to depend on what else you plan with them. Same thing can be said about fitting an 8 in a 6.5" hole. Only you can really answer that as we cannot determine effort you are willing to put into the install over the internet without a lot more description.

Maui Jim's arrive? Ha, wasn't counting those optics. Just ones for work.
  17. ///M5 replied to mrray13's topic in Off Topic
Played with some optics myself today
  18. Midbass + that comp set is a no. I'd actually either choose to use those as is and mount them close together or go all in and do an active setup. Can't pick effort level for you.

Why is there a big dildo on his desk?
  21. Not compared to a lot of narrower banded tweets but that doesn't mean they couldn't be the right choice. Depends on with what.

Very much so. Couldn't agree more.

Perhaps I landed on a particularly bad track. Remind me to check later. Maybe when ripped and being driven across the country side at night

Musicone.fm do it, trust me. Been tuned in for nearly 7 years. WTF, sitting there taking bong rips at work?
  25. Subs have nothing to do with the front stage nor the discussion. On top of that, don't assume yours play low. That's funny and again not part of the discussion as we are talking about a "component set". Stop confusing amplitude with response. This is not a discussion on how loud something is. Preference may have something to do with it. As an example, pick one (preface is they are all at exactly the same perceived volume). Would you like accurately reproduced what you were listening to: in a great way, a medium way or a shitty way? If you didn't pick shitty why would you make decisions helping you further along that way.
