My DIY 2-way setup
It can be done, but the way you are asking about it means that if you were to do it you might have to wait a rather long while before its done. It is far from trivial, but not that complicated if you have taken a college level electronics course and have some measurement gear at your disposal. Again, in reality EACH crossover should be designed in the car that it is going to be used. Also figure that crossover components are as expensive as the speakers that you are connecting them to. As for your question on is there a site that does that the answer is no and the reason is rather simple. Creating a home audio speaker that repeatable sounds at least very similar the original design is much easier as the environment can be doctored or at least chosen for the design. This is not at all possible in a car, at least not stemming across multiple models. The question is how much of a compromise are you willing to have? And either way considering your knowledge and budget an off the shelf component set is going to be your best bet.

Need help picking out an enclosure
I want it to sound good but i also want it to be able to get loud Thanks for narrowing that down. Perhaps a more generic answer would get us even further. Basically you've told us nothing we can go on yet, if you need help understanding what we need there are a few links in my signature that will help I listen to rap, hip hop, dubsteb, tenchno music mostly... I want the system to be pretty loud but sound quality is important to me... like i said i am new to this so i guess im asking what are the different types of enclosures i have to pick from, what is going to be the best for me or the most popular one used, and where can i have one made or buy one from and how much will it cost. You obviously didn't read the links.... I think you want me to pick either SQ or SPL so Ill go with SQ Not at all, I want you to describe what you want WITHOUT using terminology like SPL or SQ. Again a read through the links would have made this OBVIOUS. I'll give you a hint, you'd hate an SQ setup.

gain, clipping, retarded bmw etc
How low? Have you looked at BM'er forums to determine if the outputs are actually crossed over and don't have any electrical ninnies that are screwing up your signal? If you don't know you can easily check. Just make a test disc with 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 ,70 Hz waves on them. Play at some constant level and measure the AC voltage on the leads you have plugged into your amplifier. You should get "about" the same reading at every frequency. Do that and report back the voltage you are seeing and the rest will be easy. I'd do the test at a high level, but not pegged. 3/4 of the knob or so is fine and you can have the amp off and unplugged as the output of the RCA's going into it are all we need to know about first.

The one nice thing about lag is usually if a turbo is "big" enough to have it, it means that when it is done lagging the go is a definite go.

Mine too, lightest I've been since college. Damn arthritis bs is keeping me from moving much. Doc had me weighed in at 202 as well. About the same waist as you as well, maybe an inch smaller and an inch smaller in the neck as well.

Umm, turn it down? Honestly. And btw, there is no stage with subs.

Setting Gain with o-scope
Clipping won't make it louder, just sound worse. We need more details to help, there is obviously something wrong with your setup.

Moved to the speaker section. A $250 comp set will KILL what you picked originally. Active requires an amp channel for each driver (tweeter & mid x2) and a crossover. If you don't have the amp channels already it will definitely push you over budget. Time to go audition some comps

Don't hate on me but....
I prefer their old school stuff, but have a natural bias.

Welcome to the IHoP
haha but he would never notice an old crossover stashed in the trunk. but honestly i dont know what to look for here.. A Coustic XM-7 would be saweet. No t/a, but he won't notice and you get crossover and eq and it will ALWAYS be worth what you pay for it.

My DIY 2-way setup
Most "good" home audio stuff will have no problems with 4 ohms. And as Impious said a baffle won't work.

On that note, I didn't unload the sled this weekend as the 19" rack I thought I had lined up was way to fugly. Damnit, I need one. Perhaps I need to up the $ amount I am willing to spend. I'd love one with all 4 sides, but it isn't a requirement. No front would be the first one I'd give up, seems that they all don't get sides.

Pretty easy to take out recent Kenwoods. Especially if recent is so recent...

My DIY 2-way setup
Edit, 2 second search. Here is an easy, quick 2 way for you that will COMPLETELY destroy what you chose so far. Tons of other options though... http://zaphaudio.com/ZMV5.html

My DIY 2-way setup
Bad idea to use an off the shelf crossover and a couple drivers, much better to build something that someone has already done and documented. Terrible might be a better word. IB stand? I don't quite understand, are you putting the speakers in a wall between rooms? Or do you mean to have IB mean something else. Crossover design will be completely different for in car and in house, unless the "baffles" are identical. In situ design is really important for crossovers. If you aren't willing to do it buying a set of components is a much better choice.
