Miles Davis is more mellow? I know that name of course. No clue on John though. McLaughlin is the most disgustingly technical guitar player ever. There is absolutely nothing he can't play off the top of his head from ANY genre. He doesn't do it all with that much life though. Puts on a hell of a live show though and has played pretty much with EVERY great guitar player that lived long enough to play with him. Only person to ever embarass Jimi playing live together lol.

Then see if they give you any love if you type in Billy Strayhorn. He wrote much of what made Duke famous

If you want fusion then don't type in McLaughlin, but his old band the Mahavishnu Orchestra. That's some fucking fusion. You can thank Miles for that group though....which of course leads to one of the greatest Jazz albums of all time. Perhaps not something everyone will dig (in fact more people hate it than dig it) but Bitches Brew changed the face of music forever. What it laid out is the foundation for a TON of modern music and brought a whole new genre in music to the table. Obviously you can't leave Coryell out of that, but hell this is pretty intertwined at this point. Basically take free form Jazz and some simplified Rock rhythms and then allow complete freedom for all out jam sessions. Have the greatest trumpeter of the modern music era lead a group and BAM! Bitches Brew.

Give me a pandora chan to create. I love jazz etc, I just don't know the name of one artist. What sort of jazz do you like? I have no idea. Who are some artists that are really distinct in a certain style? I played the sax and my teacher in elementary would just give me stuff to play and I would play. Two major problems. The first being Pandora's jazz collection sucks, 2nd being there are huge differences in styles. Try John Coltrane first. And then describe what you don't like about it if that's the case. Arguably the best saxophonist EVAR and by a lot. Something about practicing 8 hours a day every day of your life nearly does that to you though.
