  1. Being forced to. Problem is that there is misinformation being brought to the table that should be clarified. If some people who don't know what they are doing wouldn't offer biased recommendations based on incorrect assumptions it wouldn't have gone this far. No just that its ratings were closer than Sundowns based on RAM's test. Not surprised you choose to elude the other requests for answers and again misread what was typed. A reading comprehension class should be in your future. Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. You currently can't. If you are chasing tenths on a meter you are going to have to experiment. This means a lot of different boxes, aimings, alignments, and amplifiers. Just like everything else there is no rule of thumb that says you can use one specification to pick an amp. Instead, stop focusing on minute details that probably don't matter that much anyways (again not chasing tenths) and buy from a reputable brand and dealer. Use references from those who actually know what components are and like the amplifier you are looking at. Just don't buy an amp with cheap crappy components. Amusingly, if you only trusted power tests and even if they were valid you could end up with an amp that with a limited life cycle based on its components although from the get go it might have made more power. Personally I want something that will last so when I am done with it I can sell it. Cost is always a funny term. To me cost is buying price - selling price and never just buying price. I'd much rather even spend 2x now if in the long run it would be less. Something that breaks or fails is never a good deal.
  2. Exactly. All you need is enough volume and for it to fit on the baffle so tip it
  3. Diagonal baffle ftmfw!!
  4. Could you be a little more vague? Lol And be worse in the recommendation. As to the OP's question depends on the horns, the processing, the goals, the space and so on. Definitely going to need something pro audio geared if it is to blend without having to step down the horns a ton.

As long as the price doesn't fucking change every month I'd be happy. Fuckers rape you.
  6. Fiberglass penetrates the wood. Tests show that it weakens things. People who want loud use it to smooth the interior surface, not strengthen their box. If you are using VOID free ply then indeed it is better than MDF. If you aren't using void free then you need to not use ply at all. Around here the big box stores do not carry void free and expect it to be 3-5x the price of mdf depending on what you can buy mdf for locally. He was saying just double the plywood, but again it was assumed you were using good ply. The crap at home depot is worthless.

And flaring your own is an even more serious bitch. I've flared plenty of copper, never steel, but never had a problem with copper. Stainless steel and copper aren't even similar. Hard as hell and splits easy. You need a better flaring tool then. Stainless is easy with the proper tool, and since it is harder, you only need a single flare for brakes. Regular steel will need a double flare. He bought something, not sure what it was but a fail. Took them someplace to have them done, lol.
  8. The 800/880prs have 16 bands L & R (32 total) If Meade uses it, it must suck donkey dick.... Fixored I don't nut hug, I don't believe just because so and so uses it therefore it must be good, but some of the products he uses are good I didn't mean all the 710's, just the one he has

  10. Thanks for putting this up Mike, I too was getting frustrated with all the misconception posts that have been occurring here lately.
  11. Your friend likes to waste money. I hope he is equally as absurd on his front stage so that it has some semblance of being an actual system.
  12. What you've noticed is that the people you know don't know how to build a box for a JL. 100% operator/installer error, don't blame the subs for that. The w6 is a GREAT driver. Personally I'd much rather have them than the SSD's, but the OP's goals may (and most likely are) be different from mine. I say get 2 SSD's. I have a single SSD 12 and it sounds amazing and gets extremely loud. And JL is way to overpriced. In this case your argument is backwards. Overpriced should relate to cost of ownership. Buy the SSD's at $360 and sell in 3 years and compute your loss, then do that with 2 JL W6's for $385 and I guarantee financially the W6's will be cheaper to own. But again, these answers are STILL UNRELATED to the OP's goals which he hasn't shared yet. Perhaps the whole idea of a sealed enclosure is even wrong for him. Throwing up useless subjective opinions is not helping him come to the right conclusion, but for that we need more information. OP please give us some goal related info, car info, other equipment you have and so on. Then we can help you decide.

Fucking really people? Felons can't own a gun, neither can people found guilty of domestic violence, and substance addicts, like they are going to follow the law anyway! You aren't a liberal now are you, lol.

  17. You don't get it do you? How about this for analogy. Let's just say your foot is exactly 12.00000" inches. You have two sticks to measure. You lay stick one next to your foot and measure 6 31/64" 30 minutes later you lay the second stick next to your foot and measure 6 1/2" You draw the conclusion that stick one is longer than stick two. Find anything ridiculous about that statement? I sure hope so. Perhaps the significant digits of 64's of an inch and the conclusion. And yes, perfect analogy as the point holds for the exact discussion we are having.
  18. Just use the biggest recommended on the Fi site.
  19. What do you mean by "handle". Are you blindly going to max the gains and abuse the crap out of them? Then no. If you are smart and do it right you could use an amplifier WAY bigger than that and still be safe.
  20. Comment was to overbuild if you aren't going to try multiple boxes. Testing on lots of parameters is required to maximize the loudness. Fiberglassing resin on top of mdf will weaken it, but will smooth the surface. As long as the rest of the structure is strong enough the amount it weakens it won't matter and could improve your score.

Sean this reminds me a long time ago you recomended a bag brand for laptops and cameras.... who was that again. My wife needs a camera and a laptop bag. I have a think tank, great bag, but they are some money. Depends on her needs there are cheaper options like Tenba bags. Spas-ee-bah Nee-chee-vo

Considering this was your third comment I am sold, with one caveat. This one WILL get pissed on, is it still what you'd use? Yeah. It is the one with the terry cloth like material on top and then a waterproof layer under it. That em effer can hold a lot more fluid than one might think. Ok, sweet. Aidan can fill up an overnight diaper and drench his sheets. Hasn't in a month or so, but am sure it wil happen again. That protector plus sheets will absorb a LOT of fluid. I haven't seen a better product this is also waterproof. Some of those mega thick pads might absorb more but none of them will stop liquid. Awesome. Danke!!
