  1. " = miles actually
  2. What if the 30 min repeat time on the "mic" was +/- 1dB? Then would you say the same? I know I oversimplified that and it is probably more repeatable, but the uncertainty in that device is around what I stated (and there are a LOT more sources of uncertainty in that test). Again the reason that it isn't valid is that the sum of the uncertainties wasn't added up and thought about in the process which can lead you to the wrong conclusions. Somewhere around Physics 101 you learn about significant digits and uncertainty which are necessary for ALL experiments to be valid.
  3. Obviously he forgot to take a structures class. That being said don't assume that a box with no flex won't be louder than one that does, but you can always expect that a box with minimized flex will color the sound less.
  4. Don't run that amp at .5 if you actually care if you melt it. Doesn't matter.

And SHIT I don't have any.
  6. Nor is it used as an acoustic barrier. *realize wasn't the scope of this thread, but considering the other threads regarding this I wanted to be sure to point it out.
  7. Ha, do you work for them or something? Either brainwashed or uneducated. It deadens some sure, but only while it is stuck on and what it does do it is not very effective at doing. Your opinion is wrong and not based on any scientific fact or understanding. Just because you think it works does not make it work. Per dollar it is not a good buy and therefore a waste of money. No i don't work for them man. I have used it and had higher numbers + deadening. I have looked at all the different deadeners and the normal FatMat is asphalt but the Rattle Trap is different. I honestly have used Peel and Seal, it all fell off of my doors. Used Fatmat Rattle Trap and nothing fell off. But everyone here is trying to say that Fatmat doesn't work but in reality is cheaper and it works just fine. Your opinion is wrong and not based on any scientific fact. The only thing i have read is that people have talked to other company's and been to the factory and they wouldn't buy it. It works just as good. What part of rubberized compound is NOT butyl don't you understand?
  8. Not trying to be hard on him, but without understanding the space there is NO answer.

I hope the makes sense part you are referring to are 95's posts and not the garbage Ibanender is spewing. There are no rules of thumb that are always accurate, nor none in this case worth using. You should keep the port air velocity to an acceptable level which is EASILY modeled.

Or to be safer, take everything you type and forget it. You can't read and obviously don't understand this. If you do, explain EXACTLY how the relationship for port area is related to the box volume but please leave out ALL other factors since "box volume has everything to do with port area". Don't type ANYTHING else as it will be garbage trying to change the subject as always. Stand up to your statement for ONCE please. Nice, way to contradict yourself just one paragraph later. No, just no. Where did you get this garbage from? Wherever it is you should stop paying attention to any of it and forget everything you think you know.
  11. True true, but if he has the space to properly use a ported enclosure with sufficient volume for three 8" drivers, I'm willing to bet it'll be louder then two. (assuming installation is done properly in both cases) So 2 E8's with 100w each will have less output than 3 E8's with 1w each? His thread is REALLY vague.

Texas is a bitch IMO. A few highlights, but the lowlights far exceed them. Definitely some nice areas, but finding them is not so easy. Not sure I'd pick either location...in particular for the reasons you yourself cited. Time to branch out and do some soul searching and prioritize your needs.

Fryguy wasn't that smart, but could have easily been that misled

Same with whenever I post. You can tell where he has no idea though as he leaves our posts alone in those threads, too bad he speaks up where he almost has an idea albeit the complete wrong one. Definitely regurgitating with some severe brainfarts....ie no brain. Sure he's not CB?
  15. Install is really what will ALWAYS make a difference. There was a reference to "if you have to ask" above and really what that means in this case is you should focus on the enclosure and your space. After you determine that, define your goals more clearly and think about your budget. Otherwise generally there is absolutely no answer to your question.
  16. And please no one else ever buy this.
  17. Actually, not really. Again not reported within uncertainty and when you add those up they will eclipse more than the .6dB he found. Also, like Impious I am not ripping on the test or findings, but the absurd comment that Ibanender made about the other tests being real. Is Ram's scientific? No. Is it repeatable? I doubt it. Will the same amp likely be louder when tested again? Perhaps and its probably even likely. Its just that VERY minimal changes can make that happen in the situation from all sorts of variables. Hell its so close it could almost be any one of them.

Lord ibanender is confused. Seems like a smart guy, but damn he is misled on every single aspect of anything ever brought up. ...unless he is a re-registered someone
  20. Kid you are thick and uninformed. The reason they don't measure THD is very simple. Its frigging expensive to measure. NO test is ever valid unless the uncertainty is also given with it. From a metrology standpoint that is the first thing that must be reported. So that being said the only part of your argument that holds water is that indeed the real world test does mean something, but conveniently for us the uncertainty may be 75% but we aren't sure because the person measuring it didn't even know how to calculate that nor report it. I find it very amusing that you are arguing a test is valid when indeed the results may very well be subjective. Pretty nice when uncertainty is large because then you can just do that. Same thing with RAM_Designs numbers. That raise is not within the uncertainty of other settings including the measurement system so it says absolutely nothing. There is no scientific validity in either.
  21. I'm running 2 isoberic driver kits out of 2 seperate (identical) enclosures off of one amp ... no problems ... I do not understand why you would have 2 different enclsoures (different sizes and different tuning frequiencies) ??? And no one else understands why you have drivers that are designed wrong such in a way that running them isobaric is an advantage. And yes, I know what it does just wouldn't pick a driver that forced me to. Great opportunity for the manufacturer to sell you two since they didn't design the one right. No don't tell us. If it works it is luck and not a plan and someone will copy it. As Honda said, may or may not work. Answer/response won't be scientific or helpful so its better to just like it if it works for you. In general it isn't the right way to go about getting the Frequency response you are looking for. I'd definitely encourage the OP to think about his goals and then design an enclosure that matches those goals. I can surely bet one thing, the two different boxes are not for an SQ reason.
  22. Not if your connection is still bad, but it would fix it if it is the fault of your connection.
  23. Don't worry if they are run together, that isn't the cause. Bad ground most likely or bad rca cable. Check those first.
  24. Clarity & bump means more budget. You shouldn't recommend anything anyways as your e-boner towards what you run is absurd. First budget savings would be to go to a single sub with more cone area, but impossible for us to recommend without knowing box size constraints. I am generally an amp is an amp guy, but the Kenwoods lately I have seen are not worth owning. In your budget you should also be shopping used. It will help a ton. I realize you were hoping for recommendations, but availability is not so easy and your budget is rather constrained. You are starting to go down the right path though
