  1. Amusingly your not bad description sounds more like a no way in hell do I want one of those to me. Surprised it wasn't uber shit, but annoying enough that you want nothing to do with it. LOL.

Maybe too similar to Europe though.

If you just want to party, Madison WI works. There are 10 year olds there that can drink you under the table.

If Lawrence were a small "uptown" area of Kansas City and not such a drive I would have put it on the list. Considering its not, if it were small town midwest I'd pick either Minneapolis or Milwaukee over it....unless you are addicted to Que.

I don't know. Coming from Europe... I'd pick the East Coast as it actual has a semblance of culture or history. Boston in particular is a hoot. If you are outdoor-zy further North Or a real city, like Chicago If CO, I recommend Boulder If it has to be CA, make it the Bay Area...or similar in Oregon. There is only one city in Texas and its Austin. Texans may say its not Texas though. Florida pretty much sucks North Carolina can be a win as well. The other thing you left off about the South is by far it has the laziest, most redneck, and despicable humans in the country. Avoid it like the plague. Worth a visit, but not a place to study. I'd also skip New York. If that is your thing, go to Tokyo instead. WAY better. You raise valid points Sean. The reson for my suggesting these areas is due to the diversity of these areas. He seems to have an idea of what the states may be like and I figure why not give him some of the red-neck fun and or slutty chicks. But still, your points are much better than mine. As for skipping New York, if its the city you mean by that then sure. The rest of the state can be okay. Is it always exciting and tons of shit to do? Not really but damn if I dont love it. J Sorry, meant NYC. Thought I implied that enough Euro-whores >>> Southern or redneck whores, I figure a little anti-culture....err, ie geographical fun would be more appropriate considering where he grew up.

I've never had a veal steak like that. When having veal can you cook it less and still get out as much flavor from the bone/fat or is it more deicate so you cook it less than regular steak? I like my porterhouse usually just above rare. At shitty restaurant I order rare but at home I'll cook my porterhouse/tbone a bit more to get some of the char/bone flavor. speaking of porterhouse. I saw a method on Good Eats to makeshift your own broiler. Its a little bit long but I bet you an skip through it to get the idea. What you guys think of this method? If you have a grill or broiler, why bother? I was unsure if that might be hotter than using my old smoky because the heat is so concentrated and close. Hotter is ONLY a benefit for a finish on the outside, then a slower cook for the actual flesh is better. I do like the idea of a ridiculous hot sear followed by a slow cook which is exactly why I paid for a sear burner on my gas grill.
  12. Nice move. These are going to really fill a niche. Tons of people want output and are incapable of dealing with a three way and the commercial offerings cause too much of a midbass/midrange trade-off to be applicable in vehicle. I have an application or two for these as well, but it would be for a passive set in a boat so I'll need to Damar them or something. I do have a little more space than a car though, but am very curious to start modeling. 2nd caveat for the application is a requirement for only a fairly simple passive design as I want to keep the parts cost down. ie, I am subsribed as well No real benefit in 4. Everything is a trade-off. The only benefit I can think of is that people will think they will be louder when they are 4 just because they don't understand audio very well and will relate the mids to how their subs are.

    Those are yummy. Earsecks.
  14. You shouldn't. In particular without citing the goals you hope to achieve. A couple problems: multiple tweeters in a front stage are bad and you should run every driver on its own amplifier channel unless you are truly capable of building a custom passive xover. If you aren't willing to do either it really won't sound all that good. If you have to you can probably just parallel them with a 5x7, but you are going to need some sort of Lpad to adjust the level of them and a crossover to keep them from blowing.
  15. I dont want to spend much more than 300 for an amp. And Im a firm believer in running AT LEAST rms to the sub. That way I dont put any stress on any equipment. And I dont have to buy the cooling upgrade I just thought it would help the sub run better. And my goal is SQ. I know the Q can get loud but I have also heard many talk of its superb SQ. Those two things have nothing in common either. The biggest improvement you'll have in the SQ domain is to spend a ton more time with your front stage.

    Fried food on a stick.
  17. tbh I am really not looking for SPL at all. I wouldn't mind but not my goal.....I want lows and a good setup for rap Which bandpass boxes are sick with A standard 4th order ported will yield at least as good of results if not better. The problem with that tho is the space....me putting the subs in the trunk gave me a lot of xtra room They take "similar" amounts of space.
  18. Oh yeah, I know there's nothing wrong with a classic style box that is built well. Just kinda window shopping @ different styles to get the most out of a box that is specified for the sub. When I see designs like the one you showed, it makes me wonder though why do they go through all that trouble, if it has no additional benefit then a traditional L shape design Because some moron on the internet keeps proposing that these are workable in car without understanding rudimentary math. There is a huge benefit of a horn loaded enclosure, you just aren't going to fit it in your car if it is tuned as a sub. I outlined your two choices, you really should use one. His enclosures are phenomenal, actually. If you ever tried one you'd know... Not sure who "him" is you are referring to, but there are a ton of buffoons proposing solutions like this. Comment still holds no matter who it is. Math doesn't lie and you can't cheat Physics.

Sounds like you overheated the cheese. Only take a couple minutes max. I've never seen it get rubbery before.
