One other comment. Your first attempt at an active setup, in particular if you are using amplifier crossovers, will be guaranteed to sound worse than a passive set. *assumes you use the same drivers* In other words, it isn't a trivial change. Considering you had a shop wire your speakers I would be EXTREMELY hesitant of making the leap to active. Fixing/improving what you have is the first step.
Paddles ftw. I would love that simply for the fact that it would mean I would be driving an Italian or Malaysian work of art, but I would really prefer to bang a shifter through it's gates. My "truck" has paddles...okay well they are buttons, but its close. I know, but if I had the money to buy something with paddle shifters it would be a 458 or an Aston. Agreed on either account. Need to figure out how to get that money.

No kidding man. Rode sled today in 0 degree weather with 30+ mph winds, and let's just say it wasn't the most fun i had riding. Supposed to get at least a foot more up here. Where are you at Thor? I am going to go for a rip today, but expect it to suck as well. Near Fergus Falls which is about an hour SE of Fargo on I-94. The trails sucked because of all the drifting and it felt like i was gonna be blown off the sled because of all the wind. Right now it's nice out but too exhausted from shoveling snow to go for a ride. <--grew up in Fargo and am very familiar with Fergus. Drifting around you is an understatement Snow got walloped by the rain here :( :( Still put on 50mi yesterday and would have done more, but my brother-in-law's buddy managed to miss a big whoop and total his sled, fuck up his knee, and pretty much put a damper on the day

You need some mechanism of measuring distortion.
You "could" but for a first shot I would highly recommend using a headunit with active controls.
Fucking poured here all day. Stupid water melted more than a foot of snow from my yard At least it is supposed to freeze which means we should have one hell of a base for snowmobiling, but if it freezes too hard the whoops will be set in stone...
