Er'....its a gift for me, so I am trying not to be to picky. My logic is get the craptastic block set I have now replaced for everyday use. Then I will invest in my own 10+" Chefs knife for when I am in the kitchen. This will keep the kids off my knifes. Why do you want your kids to use shitty dull knives? That is WAY more dangerous. Really NO ONE EVER should be a knife set. There is no way in hell it is the right choice for anyone. Installation is the key in stereos, fit is the key in knives. No two people cut the same. Don't be dumb. Take the same budget and buy a Chef's knife. REALLY. A paring knife is a nice addition, but can be had cheap. I would argue that too sharp a paring knife makes them harder to use. I like to use my thumb as a knife stop and for that reason find myself using the one with the inferior edge on it, but it does fit my hands well. The Fabeware set I have now is dangerous and needs to go away. I understand that the 'fit' is the control point and all else is arbitrary. I will invest in a quality chefs knife, but still need a decent block set too. Nobody does. Why do you think you are different? It is really ALWAYS a bad idea.

Equipment is just a very small part of the equation. Much more important is the install.

Most HUs can't put out enough voltage to cause most amps to clip with the gain set to minimum. And actually in the simplest of terms, the gain knob is precisely a volume control. Yes I understand the concept and the relationship to the headunits volume knob and an amps gain. But I didn't call it a volume knob for a reason, some read it as "volume knob" and simply turn it up without knowing. Just like some turn up the volume knob on the headunit without knowing. I fail to see the difference.

And just like in your other thread asking the same thing we will also respond the same. It is flat out a TERRIBLE idea to do what you are proposing. If you want more midrange why not first tweak what you have. You have given us nearly no details of how your stuff is setup, so it is hard to help. I guarantee that some tuning and time on what you have in a 2 way will sound WAY, WAY better than if you do what you propose in the thread which has serious fail written all over it.

Agreed. That siad I only like wood. I don't beleive in germs. we have some plastic ones but I never use them. You can find awesome cutting boards on ebay on the extra cheep. Thank goodness someone else doesn't either. I've spent my entire life not worrying about germs and I rarely get sick. I'd NEVER cut chicken on a wood board. I also don't really wash my cutting boards, but there is absolutely no reason to do so. Plastic sheet liners for cutting are 3 for $5 at Ikea.
