Need Help, Not sure what subs to buy
WTF? Not at all. Even with only 1w the BTL will be louder than any other sub Fi makes with 1w. Really simple. The BTL is made to get the loudest out of all of them, but indeed the enclosure makes WAY more difference than splitting hairs on the driver. edit: note I didn't say you can't get loud with the Icons, just was addressing the idiotic statement in bold

(2) Kicker 12" L7 vs Q18
Most of a subs sound is in its box. Yours is currently terrible for the subs you have. Quality wise you aren't stepping up much if any by changing the drivers, but SQ wise by changing the box you can gain a TON. You'll gain output too. Wrong box for what you have is by far your biggest problem.

Time to fire up the Viking. Couple butts going on for the game tomorrow. KC BBQ in MN for the whoopin' of Dallas by the Vikes.

Bose System..upgrade or no?
Definitely you can add a sub to the Bose. Depending on how Acura implements the Bose however you may NOT be able to use a DD TV h/u with the Bose. In many cars all the Bose processing is in the amps and then you could be okay unless it is a digital transmission to them, but if it is in the headunit the instant you pull that out all the drivers and wiring will need to be replaced. While I don't disagree, from a quality perspective it also sounds better than the majority of systems on this site.

RCA expansion
Bridge the four channel to your fronts only and then you will have enough
-
IN DIRE NEED OF SETUP
Is no best, decisions should always be based on goals, budget, space and so on. D1 or D2 will depend on your amplifier and what you choose to do overall
-
Q 18's in Ported Box. Crossover settings?
Usually where it sounds best to you which HOPEFULLY is dependent on what else you are combining the subs with.

Need some technicalities cleared up
So let me get this straight, you cut out all the processing in your car *assuming it is in your amps like my wives old Audi*, added a LOC, added an amp and now have frequency response, noise, and balance issues? That headunit already has a line level out. No need for a LOC, but those speakers will sound like complete ass without some serious processing. Far from trivial to get them to work, conveniently for the OEM though they can bundle the same processing for each car and sell a bunch of them.

That whole car screams of fail. The car fails big time. The thing I am wondering is how is metal compared to wood. Any sound coloring? How thick should it be. Just wondering tho, plywood is so easy to work with. A box's sound is material independent as long as it is designed right That's good to know. I hate the shape of that box but the finish looks great. I said material independent, not shape independent. Although with subs that holds true as well. To clarify the designed right: rigid/strong/absorbant/stiff enough to make sure it isn't coloring the sound. ie, CF wil still be thick, but obviously also still light. Analogy of a bike frame. Pretty easy to make a CF bike as strong as a steel one if you use enough material to make them the same weight. The art/science becomes when you start to remove material to make it perform the same but weigh less. Hopefully it is science, but people ignore the model/measure and instead just treat it like an art. Myself included. I have the gear to measure, but overbuild instead. Of course, I have no retail dollar amount my shit needs to cost per piece to sell at as much profit as possible. A little more money and less time completely works in my equation.

For serious, you need to. I can never remember all this and eventually it gets lost in the space/time continuum I am no chef, but I cook a SHIT ton. Willing to throw up whatever I know.

peerless 6.5" sls midbass
What was wrong with mounting the SLS IB? What crossover capability (slope, frequency etc) do you have? What does the back of the FR88 enclosure look like? Any idea on the air volume? The gear you have will out do what you had...and by a lot, however, as a setup it will be WAY harder to aim, tune, and get working right. Understanding what you have for gear and what things are currently frustrating to you will surely help us point you in the right direction. Thank you for the summary btw.

Arc Audio 4050XXK and 2050XXK
Probably should tell that to car audio and electronic cause they came up with 733 driven to a reactive load And they also fail at testing.

Need Help, Not sure what subs to buy
Then you just proved you don't know what it means. Read the noob posting guidelines once more (you agreed to follow them when you joined) and you will understand this better. Just to put things into perspective SQ and SPL are DIRE opposites. An SPL box is one that gets as loud as possible (ie peaky as possible) the SQ box will do the opposite and be as flat as possibe (ie no peaks). The BTL won't sound any worse than the Type X if you build the right box. Oh, and GUARANTEED you don't want SQ. Really obvious from your posts. Please never use/misuse the term again.

Did you see Deanna Favre's statement this morning? She said the pictures that Brett sent were for her, but you know him...they were intercepted.

Easy. Just tell yourself your saving many hundreds by buying a BGE instead of a C4. Actually I think it is a couple thousand. IIRC my Viking was $2600.

explain? If the meat is well seasoned you don't need to add more seasoning. (err salt) And of course I do not mean none in the sauce, but it should be balanced with what is already there so it doesn't add more.
