Newsflash. My truck has now cost more in repairs than in depreciation and that is assuming I get LOW book for it when it sells. I am sure it will do better. Perhaps such that the repairs will be 2x the depreciation.

If the man is big enough to run off with a BGE, I'll just let him go ahead and take it. Hell I might even open the door for him. I carried mine solo. No one is running off with my gas grill though either. 1) Piped to the house and even thieves should realize that this is an explosion hazard depending on how it is removed and 2) on the palette it weighed in at 615lbs
  3. I am just not a fan of expecting such a small speaker to provide such a dynamic range. I guess it is more a personal preference, but I would never do it. Sure, tuning will be much easier, but the reality of the situation is that a 3 way will work better. As the small driver is pulling such a high workload from the lower register, reaching a fairly high excursion and realizing a rise in Qts where Bl is becoming markedly more parabolic, you are demanding the driver to perform such delicacies as the harmonics or decay from a cymbal crash... it is just not a recipe for good sound quality. I personally feel with all the work J is putting into it, he will be able to get it tuned right. It isn't like so many other active installs I see where people just toss drivers in and set their crossovers and call it active... he is working on manipulating the speakers through enclosure design and placement. I think he can get it done. This is a car and being so as you know many rules go out the window. It is sort of like using a full ranger at home. The trade-off's are the same, but there is a benefit from a point source as you and I have discussed when it comes to driver spacing. In this case the spacing is zero. He also isn't having the 3 playing that low, at least not in a normal full range mode which lightens the load. Some tweeter to add sparkle at the top would indeed help, but I find that a lot less necessary in a vehicle than in a normal listening environment. I have heard a couple unbelievable installs that relied on a 3" to pull all the way to the top. From the advent of a first attempt at running active it is always the install that baffles the users. Allowing a small driver to be placed on axis and up high REALLY help the stage. Add to that the lack of knowledge of crossovers and what needs to be done and having only two drivers to cross between is a HUGE advantage. In a perfect world he could fit a 4" and a tweet up in his dash, but again I am not sure without some hours of playing that the result would be better. Tuning is not currently the OP's strength and learning with the setup he has is a stellar idea.
  4. J-road, not sure how I missed this news or your thread. Bummer on the 10. You definitely made the right choice in getting a second one. Three main reasons. 1) Great drivers and will be worth WAY more used as a pair, 2) you haven't had your system long enough to really understand what you do and don't like in order to allow you to pick a different driver, 3) There really aren't many if any other 10's that can reach as high as the Aura. As for its death, I can assume that you are so used to distortion that you pushed these into their limits. Output from a clean driver has a tendency to not sound loud until you distort it...that is until you train your ear. This takes some time though. When you put the new one in, rely more on your sub (ie raise the low cross point of the Aura's) and then level match them with your 3's. You won't be maxed in the output realm setup this way, but you won't kill anything and you can drive around for a while getting used to it. I don't think that is the case at all. He may be output limited by the 3", but it will blend nicely with that 10". The Aura is an amazing sub in many ways, but the one that makes it great in this application is its upper response. A 4" mid and a tweet could give him more output, but personally I'd rather lose a little and have everything on axis like he does in particular considering this is a first attempt at running active. I realize you added the term thermal, but that isn't the problem. Power handling for that driver would go up in a sealed pod versus the door, but it isn't worth the effort. The driver is more than fine for an IB'ish install and sealing anything in a car is far from trivial in particular for a first timer. I will add though that the OP's capabilities to do the install, ask the right questions, and follow through is much beyond most first time active installers.

Oh snap! Dont u live in an apartment? Where did u have it at? Yeah. It was on my back porch. I didn't have anywhere to enclose it. I'm so full of rage I'm not sure how I'm going to work today. Sleep last night definitely wasn't the greatest. Woke up for an hour at a time a couple times, just watching my back porch light and listening to my apartment actually hoping somebody would show up so that I could beat the fuck out of them. I had two dreams and both were about it. I live in about the nicest part of the city, nothing out here is more than 10-12 years old. I thought I would be away from that shit. FUCKERS

EVERYTHING including the cars is cheaper here. Market choice and price is not based on cost.

We see eye to eye here. Likewise, although I'd rather see Biden in office than Obama which says something as well.

still not as bad as having a McCain/Palin sticker on your car I couldn't disagree more. I'd much rather have them in office. They may have been shitty as well, but at least they didn't run under a huge premise of something that they'd never do. All of the misleading and misinformation, while somewhat normal in politics, was taken to a level that is absurd.

They are still ungodly boring ridiculous cars that are good for absolute nothing IMO. Not even reliable transportation. Sure 15 years ago they might have been compared to other things, but now they are just normal cars that have expensive parts when they do break. The Silverado isn't any better though. Biggest POS I have ever owned. It is my second and last chevrolet.

I have some Riedel's that will "hold" a whole bottle, but that is NOT how you should fill them.

Conveniently they basically act the same, albeit two strokes are two strokes but when you can trouble shoot anyone type you'll be okay Hell, I'd guarantee you know more than me.

I plan to again soon. I had my tongue pierced and my nape peirced. I couldn't squat with the nape though so when I started lifting classically again I had to loose it. I never got a tattoo but I would really like to. I just don't know what I would want. The W loves tattoos though. I have not had any artwork done in a long time, and I am getting the itch. Get a brabus tattoo. or //AMG Haha, would be weird when I am driving my future daily commuter that will probably be Japanese. I just threw up in my mouth Tattoos make you queezy? Nope. I don't have one, but that is just because I don't have any one thing I want permanently anywhere. Nothing against them, nor do they bother me even to watch as they are done.

Yep, Japanese cars make my stomach turn. Complete waste.
  19. And that surely doesn't help us give you ANY information.
  20. ///M5 replied to mrray13's topic in Off Topic
Fine until they break. No real love for them, the only one I'd really be interested in is an 850, but I'd rather have the 840 in reality. Wouldn't be a bad car for IMO.

As a landlord myself I can tell you it is not smart to buy a $200,000 house to rent out. People renting out big houses are not usually there for long. I have a big house like that I rent out and 3 smaller houses in not so nice neighborhoods. The big house was my last house, and rather then selling it we decided to rent it out. We found that it sits vacant and rolls over more then the others. People renting these houses are usually those who have had an issue in their main home, such as a fire or whatnot, that requires them to be out of their house for a few months, or people building houses in that area and wanting their kids to warm to the schools before hand, etc. They are just very temporary renters. The smaller houses rent quickly, as they are cheap, and they are in areas where the average renter can't afford to move real quick, you know first and last months and paying for a moving truck is a struggle. Yeah, maybe it seems cold renting to people who simply can't afford to leave, but it is business. Ha, $200k doesn't even buy a starter house here. You can't rent anything unless you spend that much.

It actually could. Nothing wrong with array's and they can solve many issues normally that a car would have with the right electronics. Luckily for VW/Audi they make enough of these they can actually invest in those electronics as well. I am curious.
