Let me make this easier on you. You won't hear port flexing, but you will hear box flexing.
  3. I\I don't care about SPL. When I listen to music (everything but country) I want it to sound like I'm in the recording studio. I need a woofer that has crisp accurate response and has diversity. I'm not in high school anymore, so I can throw my ear plugs away and not have worry about impressing anyone 4 blocks down the road, anymore. That's why I'm running the MacDaddy. Furthermore, it's one of the top 5 sound quality woofers ever made! So go ahead and hate because more than likely, you've never even heard one before and can't get past the SPL factor I never commented on your sub choice, in an SQ setup which sub hardly matters it is the installation that is important. If your goals are truly to have it sound like a recording studio then you need to run only ONE set of components and they have to be up front. And yes, I'd rethink those choices because they won't get you your goal. Focal's are very, very, very far from studio monitors when it comes to FR.

Really it shouldn't be bad, it isn't terribly off.

Pretty much. Didn't realize you were attacking this yet. Obviously a day late here. Sorry. No need to be sorry. I should have asked this one here a bit earlier.... Or at HAF

Again, by 20Hz you are only at 6m/s. Many anal people will tell you to stay below 12 there

No, your port is so big it may not matter.

Ratio's that high (L to W) of a port can cause turbulence which can be audible. Generically speaking a 4:3 is best, but going beyond 7:1 or 9:1 isn't recommended. I hate rules of thumb though so don't quote either, but realize that is what they are and why.

I can't even drink the drip they have here. It has something in it that rips my stomach in half. We have a few coffee machines here. I have been using the Keurig as of late, with the little Caribou coffee. Keurig, boo. Caribou, viva la MN.

5 days off meant busy morning. OK now I have a moment to think. Single driver? 1 driver per box. 2 boxes. Power? 1000. They will get powa from my QSC PLX2 3102 I have the original mael-x with which is SCV but only one pair of posts. Same specs as current 18". Resistance is 3.8 ohms. So basically the PLX will put 1000 into 4 ohms and 1550 into 2. Basically 1000 watts per speaker. HP, LP, SS filters available? I have no filter yet just what ever the yamaha z7 will do for me. I am looking for a recomendation as far as that goes. Let me know your exact dimensions and I will ponder what you might need for processing

    Area the same, proportions change

Yours have rounding errors, mine are right I have numbers and models and whatever you need....
  16. Or your crossover is just not working. Even at a 6dB slope at 40Hz you shouldn't really be hearing words. Obviously some leakage will occur, but it won't be much.

Me too. Do you have a finished size & port for the box yet? If so what? Curious to see how they model in them. 24x2.5 and I don't remember what it came to exactly but I would like to say 61.5 inches long. It's sticking out in my mind as correct. The chamber for the woofer should be real close to 16cuf after bracing and woofer. Single driver? Power? HP, LP, SS filters available? For starters. 16cuft, tuned to 12.25Hz is about what you cited above. Port air velocity peaks at 10.5Hz at 24m/s which many would say could go higher as it isn't in the acoustic range by 20Hz you are down to 6m/s Cone excursion also will kill your driver at full power below 10.5Hz, but a simple HP/SS will solve that and could allow you to run significantly more power or a larger box. Secondary peak is 26mm at 18Hz which leaves some room. 118dB out rolling to 113 at 12Hz (no room gain included) but decently smooth response. Some parametric could easily flatten this out and you have excursion room so some sort of processor would benefit the response but could be added later. PLEASE double check my T/S, this is just what I had put in a long time ago and I never looked to see if it is for your driver, but think so IIRC. Response curve. Any possibility of making the port more square? If you could, I would.
  18. No, not normal. Your crossover settings are not adjusted right

I've heard the "right way" to make it is 7:4:3 tequila/sec/lime, although my personal favorite is the 3:2:1 variety I almost always use key limes instead of the Persian variety using simple syrup never even crossed my mind True, YELLOW Key Limes FTMFW! I love a genuine Key lime pie, green shit isn't as good D: Only problem with that is that fresh squeezed >>> bottled and good luck getting keys year round. Add to that they are a bitch to juice and I'll stick with limes for my drinks.

Two major problems there. 1) Blended and margarita shouldn't exist. Rocks ftw. Only exception is when you use frozen strawberries for the ice and it is over 95 degrees. 2) 12%??? WAY too weak. There should be as much tequila as all other liquids and obviously tequila isn't the only booze in them. Fresh squeezed lime juice and real simple syrup are the keys though. That and a tequila that tastes right in a mixed drink. I use a lot of Sauza as I find going more expensive doesn't always yield that much better results. Don't get me wrong, there is a time and a place for a top shelf Margarita, but then they need to be even stronger. I like the way you think Sean, tequila it up! Tending bar for 4 years has an effect on how you mix drinks.

Aside from me being positive that we have some family in common in our ancestry I agree 99.999%. I do like some orange liquer in my 'ritas. I do often make them with just lime juice tequila and sugah wattah. I have cheated and used roses though. Grand Marnier &/or Cointreau are my norms. Currently also have some Patron Orange liquor that was cheap and is a knockoff, good for the dough and I would say near a minimum for a good rita.
