I'd have to agree. It was a brief lapse of using my better judgement, brought on by nothing pertaining to his actual post. Just happened to be victimized by a scrupulousness moment, of being a thoughtless arseho. The post was retracted, and I would like to say, "sorry, my bad" !

one of the factories is located. LOL I was thinking the same thing. Minnesota is the home of one of the few MLV producing plants. I know this because head of distribution is a buddy of mine. Also, if you did enough research and called around to enough internet retailers, both in the automotive and constructional sound deadening industry, you'd find out MLV is primarily shipped from the same few locations. The internet retailer you'd be purchasing from, is only the middle man/ broker and doesn't want to tie up that much money just in the shipping, when the don't have to. Seeing as, it all has to be shipped anyways at some point, what's the purpose of shipping it twice (when considering cost of shipping)? This also benefits the distributor, as well. They're able to sell more product, by keeping it's price down. Neither retailer or distributer profit from shipping, so why substantially raise the price for the consumers, when they don't profit from it and will sell less product as a result. If the average roll of MLV didn't weigh so damn much, not of this would be applicable and a mute point. So does that answer your question? -

It does not matter what brand of MLV you use, as long as it's 1lb ft. Also, if it doesn't have a decoupler, a layer of foam that will be the meat in your MLV, CLD sandwich. You're pissing your money away if you use the MLV without adding a decoupler, if it doesn't already have one. As far as MLV goes, the last thing you need to concern yourself with is which brand it is, providing it's 1lb ft. There are only 4 or 5 factories who produce all MLV, that gets distributed to to be repackaged ( with that specific company brands and logo, providing it wasn't shipped like that already). So the brand name is irrelevant. Cost is the only thing you need to concern yourself with. First, exhaust all of your options to find it locally, even if it's more expensive. When ordering from the internet, you'll end up paying half as much to have it shipped as you'd just paid for the MLV alone. MLV can not be shipped like normal packages using the normal carriers because it's over weight. The deal just ended up, not to be such a good deal after all. I bought mine locally, at an initial higher sticker price. But after I figured in the cost of shipping, the local price didn't look so bad after all. I actually saved a couple of dollars. If you can't find it locally, PM me and I'll tell you where to find it the cheapest, taking shipping into consideration. I just need to know what part of the country you're from so I can tell you which place will be the closest, to save yourself some shipping money. If you're on the west coast, get ready to grab your ankles because the cost of shipping is going to give it to ya! When buying anything for sound deadening from the web, try to stick to buying foams and cotton insulation type products. Everything else, look for it locally or with in driving distance, unless you live in Minnesota or on the Northern East coast. Do product research, and if you can't find a product spec sheet, there's usually a reason why. Especially when it comes to CLD tiles. Good luck! -

With that being said, how many studios have you seen in a car and with a car's unique acoustical limitations and changes. I realize it's unrealistic to have it sound exactly like being in a studio would. That was more or less a figure of speech, meaning I want to achieve the best SQ as I humanly can and have it sound as close as possible, to what the artist Intended it to sound; with having to mortgage my house. Maybe my kids college fund would be ok but not a the house. Now that I think about it the cost of college is the is about same as or more than the average Americans house. I'm sure that you get my point, though!!!!. -

Who ****, me? I'm with Duran, I'd like to see it too. lol Why do I am getting 4 stars when using slang I'd say in front of my grandma? "that" minus the "th" and adding a "d" Cuz dis ain't da hood foo. We be educated herr. That still doesn't answer my question of why a harmless, non offensive word would be censored from my post. I give you props though. Including the word "educated" in grammatically challenged sentences, was a nice touch. That's my kind of sense of humor. Anyways, I like joke around and talk smack, probably to the point of being a fault. My smack talk shouldn't be taken as anything else but playing around. It's not a form of disrespect, especially when I don't even personally know the person. I'm seeing if you're game and not stomping on peoples toes. And no, I'm not back peddling, I played college football, and have trained in MMA, since the late '90's. So know body really intimidate me. In saying so, it'd be prudent to say, it doesn't matter how bad you are/or think you are, there is always someone badder who could whip your a$$. (This is a generalized statement that includes all of man kind) After all, we're all human. Ok, enough of our testosterone driven, ego talk, let's get back to car audio. My mantra is: "It's better to be a smart a$$ then it is to be a dumb a$$!!!" -

I\I never commented on your sub choice, in an SQ setup which sub hardly matters it is the installation that is important. If your goals are truly to have it sound like a recording studio then you need to run only ONE set of components and they have to be up front. And yes, I'd rethink those choices because they won't get you your goal. Focal's are very, very, very far from studio monitors when it comes to FR. Then in your opinion, what would you say will get me closer to the "studio monitors" SQ I'm after, without being the $7000- $10000 Rainbows, Utopias, Thesis and so on? I think the focals sound incredible and that's not judging on their price tags. Side by side to other brands, at same price point, they sounded the most detailed, had great imagining, the clearest (not muddy at all) and produced crisper more accurate mid bass. I know some people complain about the tweets, but from what I understand, the subtle differences of SQ that differ with each brand., are judged differently in the ears of each listener, what their taste is taste. The fact that no two humans brains interpret sound waves and hear exactly same thing, along with differing opinions on which speakers nuisances are more pleasing to them. That makes it impossible to definitively say that one brand better than another brand, providing you're comparing apples to apples and not apples to oranges. Also, I can get the Focals at regional distributors cost. That makes the Focals that much more attractive. And for all the inquires, this is all for fun because I enjoy doing this and especially having the freedom to be as creative as I can dream it up. Taking an idea and making it a reality, is the best part of the whole process. Also, have many experts in this field, who'll lend me a hand and help me out if I have any problems, get stuck, or need a question answered. My biggest problem is that I'm to anal and a perfectionist. It can become very annoying and frustrating at times. If need be, I'll redo something as many times as it takes to it right and have it come to fruition how I envisioned it to look and/or function. That's the best thing about this whole thing is it's a hobby, I don't have a time line, just a no compromise, no short cut, and do it right line. -

I'd rethink your driver choices, but that is a personal decision and you should use your ears anyway. I\ I don't care about SPL. When I listen to music (everything but country) I want it to sound like I'm in the recording studio. I need a woofer that has crisp accurate response and has diversity. I'm not in high school anymore, so I can throw my ear plugs away and not have worry about impressing anyone 4 blocks down the road, anymore. That's why I'm running the MacDaddy. Furthermore, it's one of the top 5 sound quality woofers ever made! So go ahead and hate because more than likely, you've never even heard one before and can't get past the SPL factor -

SQ car? He is putting in two sets up front and rears, if he wants to compete it won't do all that well. I'd rethink your driver choices, but that is a personal decision and you should use your ears anyway. -

I am laughing my a$$ off, just thinking you're dumb enough to think that was finished as it sits. When I'm done with that rear wall, it'll be perfectly flat, and those vents will be covered by many layers. Starting with a sheet of mold able vinyl dampener, glue a garbage bag to that, then I have a custom fit fiberglass mold. My amp racks are made from welded, square tubed aluminum.Making the panel out of fiberglass will allow many creative options to mount the racks. You guys need to figure out that I'm not just half a$$ing my install. You guys should have figured that out, by the state of my truck is in!! -
