....WTF is a bacon press? I feel retarded now, lol./ Usually a heavy hunk of cast that you can heat up and help things cook flat and a bit from both sides. OOOooh ok. I was thinking "Wtf kind of crazy contraption is a bacon press, and why would I want to press my bacon, I like it fried or in an oven. Good call on that. I was looking for exactly what you posted pics of. They make ones with "grill" marks you can use for panini if you prefer that style. Just throw it over the fire on a burner and get it hot and toast both sides at once

me too, no clean up tinfoil ftmfw
  7. I'd personally use a ply board instead of a solid one. You also want to bolt the board to the metal of the door and not hang it on the door card.

Used to have a polished version of this that would fit on the page, but can't find it.

  11. Enter ONLY these and in this order: Mms Cms Sd Bl Re Qms The rest will be calculated automatically. Expect VAS to be different as it will change for different environments and everyone makes different assumptions. **Be careful as to how the BL is specified on DVC systems. It might be either in series or parallel and you need to make sure that you choose appropriately**

Panini press? No. Never had a need for one. A big arse bacon press and a pan is what I'd use.

No, bad idea. Instead buy subs that fit the box you can build. smaller box= more power handling correct? i know going that route would be less "efficient" And the only reason you'd want more power handling is so that you can brag about the power you are running. Personally I'd instead focus on getting the most out of your system for your goals and a smaller box and more power won't reach those. A proper box is step one, buying a sub that fits in it is step two. NEVER the other way around.
  14. Years ago sure, it just got leap frogged. Plus in general Apple makes NOTHING that I have any interest in.
  15. Can you even buy a car stereo that has RCA outs for front, rear, & sub that doesn't have a generic HP on it? The 9887 has WAY more processing than just a single filter. When you state crossover, most people think LP for the sub, bandpass for the mid, and HP for the tweeter. The 9886 cannot even come close to that. Add T/A and some EQ and In your case, I think you could probably shave a bunch off your budget and still get that option cheaper.

Monster setup problem. How are things crossed over, what other processing is applied (and what processor), how are the gains set, can you post pictures of how they are mounted? Crackling is not a sound I'd expect out of those 8's at the frequencies you are playing them. I am VERY curious as to the questions I asked as it sounds like your system is not at all installed anywhere near appropriately. Of course asking ANY shop to do what you are doing isn't so easy.

    On the stang?
  18. Angling won't help anything on a midbass, but cone area will. Considering your reasoning from above sounds like you wish to gain midbass, I'd rethink your install and see what you could fit.
  19. That is rather misleading. Yes they would benefit from an enclosure and yes they will be MORE picky than a subwoofer in its size. The alternative of course is to mount them IB which nearly all car audio woofers are designed for. Closing off the back will normally make these sort of drivers sound significantly worse and cramp their output.
  20. Getting rid of the Hifonics is a great idea, but the upgrade you will have is only in quality not quantity. The Sundown is a much better amp, but maybe that isn't enough reason to spend the money. Personally I'd do something to be rid of the Hifonics, but I like to only buy things that will still be worth money 10 years from now.
  21. Agree with the first sentence. Disagree with the second, although only the fact that you didn't put any qualifications on it which the OP could surely have and might from his first post. Impossible to tell with the absent amount of information he has given us.
  22. Nope, well.. not for audio. It's going to be my Daily Driver Show Truck. Sort of an oxymoron there isn't it?
  23. 5mpg, no way. You aren't going to gain hardly anything, but a loss of output. Either way it is your choice, but you get to pick the compromise.
  24. That box also does not look like it is mdf, if it is particle board like it seems in the picture RUN away. Your goals don't correspond with a 10" sealed. No one should recommend either as you will be left wanting more.

A regular comp set could easily be louder than a 3" full ranger. Not the reason to pick that as a set. In particular if you are crossing them near 350Hz. 350 is also too high for the SLS, not terribly so but I don't like them up there. midbass was nice even though they got a little muddy when i cranked up the volume. I really wanted to throw a 10 in the door but they wouldn't fit Muddy sounds like an install issue, but a better description would helps us track that down.
