Welcome to the IHoP
The rat shack meter is a type B SLM which means at 8kHz your ear is more accurate, lol. It bites the dick at low frequencies too.

Ryan J's build log
I'm pretty set on the ScanSpeak HDS. For the mid I was thinking of the ER18 that you had mentioned. I have a concern, that may actually not be a concern at all, about this. While looking at the frequency response graph I noticed that there is a drop off down low. Higher than I think I would like? Maybe not? ...help me... I'll be running a sealed Dcon for the subbass department. HDS Adrian, do you have any input on which mid to run? 6-7" I'd run the ER18. Some improvements over the CA18 and the latter mates up nicely to the HDS Yummy false floor, love seeing birch builds. Some improvements, some disadvantages. Mostly improvements as it nearly has the voicing of the Excel line but is still easy to integrate like the Prestige. The CA's have a bit more on the bottom, but I too would still choose the ER.

Getting license soon, any random ideas for stereo setup and design
You obviously didn't read nor think enough. Distance has NOTHING to do with phase. 2 drivers playing the same frequencies will ALWAYS have destructive & constructive interference as they will NEVER be perfectly in phase. The key is again that for no interference to happen the signals must be in PERFECT phase. Any anomaly even a part of a degree will cause interference. You read some turds for articles that weren't based on any facts, but someone trying to rationalize their position. I surely bet there were no formulas or math in those articles describing why things worked that way.

J-Roadtatts Honda Accord Build
Vented for sure, they NEED to breath (as does any real driver). I wouldn't use cooking spray as it will rot, vaseline won't though or I suppose you could use vicks vaporub lol.

Welcome to the IHoP
Got home at 5pm. Held the boy, made dinner, installed a dishwasher and managed to get 2 hours worth of emails and a couple calls to Asia in. Good productive night

Looks good other than the baby shit yellow on the walls. Does that granite backsplash run behind the cooktop? (why the seam?) What brand cooktop did you get? Doesn't look that color in real life. Granites been in for years, I'd never pick that color but considering it'll stay. Normally you can't see the seam but it is full of granite dust from cutting back what was there. Bluestar. Thing is a complete beast.

Everything is a compromise. I'd much rather run the Seas Nextels than the L8...

They are next. The w said I couldn't shop for any until I finish the other shit I had started. They are 27's as well so I "get" to customize the cabinets to make a 30" fit. Grrr.

Welcome to the IHoP
Turned on all the burners to test, I was 8ft away and within a second could feel the heat. Shit gets teh hot. Some clean up to do and the two smaller drawer holes need their respective drawers cut down but that is it. :) :) :) :)

Component location problem
I'd try throwing a HUGE dash pad up (ie a comforter or something) and see if it is the tweets or the reflections that are driving you nuts. Cover as much of the dash and as much of the incident windshield as possible. I also tend to listen to drivers on their own when I am trying to solve problems. Mixing with the mid may be a fault of the crossover design, but such that it doesn't work in the alignment in your car.

Bunch of shit in both directions, but this over reaction is absurd. Health care reform fine, but turning us into a Socialist state is nuts.

IMO an active crossover NEEDS selectable slopes, is better with phase control (easier than doing it manually), digital selectability of the cross point, and of course goodies like eq and t/a don't hurt either but could surely be independent.

No worries, just wanted to make sure you gave your mids room to breath. Most people don't when they do kicks which regularly can defeat all the positives you could possible have by running your drivers there. Now we just need to convert you to running active.
