most effective use of Luxury Liner Pro?
It should, same application really Lead sheeting works in the car too, but it isn't so cost effective. Might add on just a couple more pounds too, just a couple. Which is also the goal.

Designing a 3 way active
You should really focus more on your goals and ask for help than to throw out options.

Designing a 3 way active
Hell an active 2way could EASILY smoke 2 comp sets, you really don't need a 3 way for that.

Welcome to the IHoP
I TOLD YOU DON'T FUCK WITH ME! Just watched that. Love it, especially the attitude from the women talking trash before then wanted to press charges after the beating. The old dude should press charges. No way. He handled it like a man, unlike the punk. That's the problem with society today. It's done and over with, even though the guy who got his ass beat will remain bitter. No need to tie up the courts and waste tax dollars on it. Agreed completely and realize my post didn't read that way. My point was more that if either does he'll win or better. Be a shit shame if it were the other way.

Looking for a good component set
Take a peak at a few of these: Fostex FF85, Fountek FR88, TangBand W3, or the Vifa TG9 I enjoy the Fostex enough that my office is going to get a set of full range monitors for my computer. I'd pick the top end first and perhaps even install it. Just really want to insure that you get a mid that will blend with it, usually the better a drivers midbass the less the extended midrange.

Designing a 3 way active
Not like you guys couldn't talk about it at home, lol. It's all goal, time and knowledge related. Active in general yields worse results than a passive set, until they are put in the hands of someone experienced.

sealed and ported?
Going to have to replace your current box, they require a significantly larger box ported than sealed. Depending on your goals you might be better off selling the Type R and buying either one or two different subs. Maybe a new box would be enough as well. Not sure without knowing what you are trying to do.

Phew, I made it past the terms and agreements!

- HAT drivers
Problem with all car comps is they come with many compromises and shitty crossovers. I'd expect more of the same with both of those, but in their price point they might be just fine. I have no experience with either, but wouldn't expect miracles and as Impious stated from a driver perspective there are many more affordable drivers that will outperform them.- Welcome to the IHoP

If I were you and I could get a full ranger on axis, I'd do a 2 way with an 8" midbass and a 3" full range driver. Sure you lose a little top end, but hey its in a car and I'd make the trade to have most of the frequencies coming from a single driver. I wouldn't hesitate to not run a tweet. What are your thoughts on that?- Welcome to the IHoP

You can fit an 8"er up that high?- Welcome to the IHoP

Now the little mang won't take any meds either. Aargh. He's asleep on my sisters lap downstairs.- rattlebox317's wmd2 12" box design
Small minded is making a decision without considering all the factors. Not sure what "inner city" has to do with cost. Price is important to everyone. As for proven performance, perhaps a discussion as compared to what would be important for that to be relevant. No need to have that conversation here as you can always choose to do whatever you want with your money. It surely won't offend me. The guys that I have seen that have been testing them have no idea what they are doing, but I am sure there are exceptions. Curious why you think 2 layer foam is a positive. And the part that really makes no sense to me is the last sentence. You have a family, you have a grandson, you have no job and you are buying a sub for your ride? I think a priority shift might be in order, but again your life your decisions.- most effective use of Luxury Liner Pro?
Unlike mat, a barrier has to be full coverage to work. Otherwise the areas that aren't covered "leak". That being said, I am not proposing you cover your whole car in it, but if for instance you choose to do a door you should cover the whole door The people on the SS forum are overkill since the owner pushes overkill, part of the reason I don't respect him. Pushing product to be used where it doesn't do any good sucks.- Looking for a good component set
More information would be great. For instance a response to my axis question. I realize that they aren't made yet, but I don't know the limitations. As for the "sets", it NEVER makes sense to buy a set when you are going to run active. I realize exceptions can be the rule, but you really should pick your drivers based on your listening needs and your mounting locations (since processing is already decided...)- Welcome to the IHoP
I should be, but am not.- Designing a 3 way active
3 way active as a first active install is a recipe for will sound worse than an off the shelf component set. It may have more midbass, but you are going to have WAY too many levers to pull and without some serious luck have a very hard time pulling it off. 2 way active can be done, but I am with Brad and can't recommend you go that route...at least not yet.
