Crap. A huge order I needed for this year, got pushed out until Jan 4th. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh
  2. Having an 18" in an enclosure that won't allow it to play low notes is the most amusingly stupid thing you could possibly do IMO. You'll get laughed at by everybody.
  3. I'd look for some company closing and auctioning off their goods.

Printing Envelopes for christmas cards. Yay.
  5. As I said earlier in your thread: Those 5x7's are crap. You don't want them. It has NOTHING to do with oval or round and EVERYTHING to do with the fact that no one engineers a decent oval speaker these days. *exceptions always, but I don't know of any 5x7's atm Buy some 6.5" components otherwise you will be right back where you started.
  6. I highly doubt box size affects tweeters What are some decent crossover's, that wont necessarily break the bank. looking for ~150hz lowpass and 300hz highpass That still leaves me with the issue of weak highs. Here's the deal. You just got a weeks vacation, not because of this exact post but your attitude in general sucks and this is the coup de grace. The box size comment was relating to the mess on your mid, your crossover is also a rather huge issue as is your idea that 150hz and 300hz is what you need. Come back in a week with a fixed attitude and try harder or don't post.
  7. I get stupid links, either to sites that sell speaker wire, or at most 1/0. Nothing on 4/0 that i could find, specifically a comparison picture. Do you really suck that bad at the internet??? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_wire_gauge Come on. Stop being lazy *took me less than 15sec btw

*tries to imagine what the super hero name would be for a large guy with springy leg extensions.
  10. Without you'd kill the pair of 4's even faster....

...then put it to good use
  12. High passing is usually done if you have a sub. This will give them more output potential as they are always limited by the midbass.
  13. Have one for me.
  14. Problem is your crossover and perhaps box size. Eq won't help. Glad you can't carry it, stupid idea to be a social menace anyways.
  15. Hell maybe even one 10 in the right box. Complete waste of sub to mis-use it. And more importantly a complete waste of money. DON'T
  16. Yep, no to the 4's and no to the 5x7's. Get some 6.5 comps and spend some time installing them well.

Just restart the game once your in.
  18. FLAC ftw!!! 1700kbps+ I have all my music in FLAC, however for a car it is ridiculous. I guarantee even in a ridiculous setup you won't hear the difference between 320 and FLAC. Do a true A/B test and no way.
  19. You end up with a driver that has a really crappy response compared to what it would be if it were in a box designed for it.
  20. An eq will not help you lower distortion. It could help your clear up your highs, but clear is not a descriptor that is something I can help you correct over the internet. Take some time listening to tones and see where your deficiencies are.
  21. It has something to do with power, but that is not the primary purpose. Think of it this way. A passive crossover is someones compromise to make a set of components cheap enough for you to buy it. Nowhere near optimized for your install. Considering install is WAY, WAY, WAY more important than drivers just using the off the shelf crossover has already seriously compromised your install. That being said, most first time active installs are failures anyways. It does take time and patience and the ability to hear and want to hear the subtleties in music. I personally have Zero interest in the 360.2, they are known to be noisy and definitely limited in processing. Considering you are contemplating horns you are going to need flexibility which to me leaves you with either a couple different headunits or an Alpine H701, Pioneer P9, Audison BitOne, 12v modded Behringer 2496 or some other used units from the past.
  22. Perhaps you should google gauge, it will answer your question.
  23. I've never seen two that are "exactly the same"
  24. IMO you are going to want some eq to tame the response of those horns. Considering, I personally would use a proc that can do the crossovers and eq all in one instead of relying on your amps.
  25. Gives sound quality back, lol. I don't understand extremely compressed music. I see people all the time with 80gb Ipods and 5gb of music on them. Had you just ripped them at a bit rate that is acoustically acceptable you wouldn't "need" gadgets to try to put back in what you took out. Rip at 320 and don't bother with the gimics.
