  1. You need an enclosure to port. This requires either no leaks or that you compensate for them. It would be far from trivial to compensate as your trunk is going to be really leaky. So your choices are either build a ported enclosure and put it in your trunk, or change what woofer you will be running.

I am going to build something else. I believe the model is the BP8, but it could be some other 8. Basically they were the big dogs without the subs when I bought them.
  3. Not when clipping indicators don't work. Use your ears, much better judge of stress on a driver. As for the original question, I have no need for remote gain controls at all. Needing one IMO is a sign of an unbalanced system.

I need a smoke and a shower now.... Wonder if Sean's boss would clear this rig. Amusingly that is exactly how I sent the link around to my friends in an email.
  6. Ive only tested them free air to make sure they work. Never in any type of enclosure yet. I wouldnt know how to measure the size of the sealed enclosure for fg. Each pod being large enough to house one mli-65 and a tweet. I dont think I want to cut the pocket of the panel like this though. same exact door panel as mine . I can cut it off, if it is the absolute best solution, but Id rather not if I dont need to. Ive already deadened my entire driver door already. So Im kinda stuck there. I also have some left over for the other door as well. So that money was already spent a long time ago. So you are suggesting that I build both a sealed and ported enclosure from say, 1/2" mdf for mock up? I can see how the comparison between the sealed enclosures could be done but the ported doesnt make sense to me. At what frequency would I tune this mock enclosure to? Does the speaker venting into the door create an enclosure like environment with a tuning frequency? I seem to be a little confused. I didn't recommend ported, could easily be done. By both I meant build an enclosure and listen to it in your truck. Build is step one, step two listen in vehicle. Reason being is you need to figure out what size your enclosure is giong to be, if it is too small you will cramp all the midbass potential out of those drivers.
  7. Stop in a Sound Deadener Showdown before buying anything. There is a link in my sig
  8. Just an FYI; To find a half octave you can just multiply the frequency by .75 32 * .75 = 24 And if you want a half octave up you can multiply by 1.5. Not that you need to here for absolutely anything. Octave down = 1/2x, Octave up = 2x

Those sheet rockers need only measure, cut, install, tape, and mud. Thats it. lazy & sloppy: looks like cheap shit IMO

I learned how to do some of this house work last year and the beginning of this year before I moved back home from college. Since his dad owned all the condos there, my roommate was head maintenance man and his older brother was manager there. I learned lot from: laying pipe; installing washer and dryer in units that never had them; replacing carpet with stone, tile or wood; adding new appliances; redoing walls like your doing above. I feel as though it helped in the long run to do small fixes or add ons in the house in the future. you should have learned how to lay pipe before col lege
  12. Yes, deadening, appropriate use of crossovers, eq, and phasing are all required.

He completely jacked that woofer btw, there was ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with it when it went in the box. All user/design error. While it was funny to see, I don't need to see that again.

I also hate textured ceilings. Lazy sheet rockers.

agreed, I hate textured walls. Spend the time to do the rock work right!
  16. The 6100 doesn't have active filters for anything but a subwoofer, so no it won't do an active front stage. Assuming the link I found in Europe holds true for here as well.

SQ is an install parameter more than a driver parameter and in his install it really won't matter. Considering the OP's goals I would really recommend the BL and not the Q.
  18. Oh and as for the pos/neg. Just an FYI, I have NEVER had an install where I used the normal phasing on all drivers. It has always sounded better switching one of them. Not saying that it couldn't be the case the other way around, just never in one of my installs.
  19. fixed for reality

Perhaps understanding what you have for a design should be step one before building it. I see another Lordbaccus T-line failure destroying your sub coming... Why did you choose what you chose for your T-line. I would highly recommend discussing it before the build.

You are not the only one, Im tired of hearing about Tiger Woods just like I was about Brett Farve everytime he retires. They rather report someone's personal life to the public rather than the real news they cover up because they dont want the people to know what is really going on under their noses. Sucking serious butt last week shut up the whole Favre thing. Hopefully it stays quiet. I want to win like hell, but I also am sick of either story. Let's just play some fucking football.
