  1. Panel resonances aren't really going to add so much noise outside. As I said before he needs a barrier. If he truly wants to stop as much noise as possible a lead barrier would be more effective than the MLV. Rattles of course are another concern, but addressing each one of those will require a different technique depending on where it is coming from. Curious why you recommend MLV bonded to a CCF, I'd personally rather decouple independently.
  2. The MLi65's are great little drivers. Midbass is integrated differently for a lot of people. Some of us do not like to have our subs play higher than 40-50Hz. This creates the need for some serious front stage drivers. It is always more efficient for output to play your subs as high as possible and if you are truly into output you probably won't care if it is localizable. In your case the solution is to take care of the tweeters and mids and then see what happens.
  3. So you are going to save money on an enclosure to "waste" it on power. That seems logical. The box should always be first. One of my favorite quotes fits really well here. Install is 90%, equipment is 5%, beer is 5%.
  4. Sandbags, easy to make them any volume you want.
  5. If it weren't in the middle of our stupidly short boating season on a prime day I would. Considering it is going to be tough to get me out. Plus I have a family reunion.

Based on policemen friends I have played soccer with for years, MJ and cocaine are the two leaders in the Baltimore/DC area. Not sure if you remember, close to 7-10 years back, the Maryland house, a rest stop on I-95 some 10 miles north of me right now, was the trade and mid-distribution point for the Miami-New York connection. Essentially, the runners would drive up I-95 from Florida and meet the money men that drove down from NY here. Philadelphia/Baltimore/DC drug lords would then buy in bulk from them here and spread out. I would guess that it is because the same people deal in both trades, not because of MJ specifically. The only "gateway" drug on this planet is alcohol. MJ is the opposite. The only issue with legalization is that it is hard to police. Determining if you are to get a DUI is pretty darn hard. Other than that the benefits outweigh the negatives. Case and point, I went to a college that allowed keg parties in the dorms, pot smoking in public, nudity, and pretty much any other college try thing you can think of. The philosophy was that if it happens in the open it is easy to catch a problem. IMO that philosophy works really well.

I go back to saying it won't fit. Can you make it? Yes, will you? I doubt it. Simple solution. Build the box first, build it as big as you can then measure the volume of it and afterwards cut the baffle for the driver. Picking the sub before the box makes no sense whatsoever. 70lbs really isn't worth worrying about btw.
  8. Double thread making gets you a vacation from the site. Don't do it.

    what type of little furry?
  10. If you have to ask that question you shouldn't run an amp at 0.5ohm. Go with the 1ohm solution.
  11. I doubt that's been tested. It will do more than half what it would at 4ohms and considering you have to double the power to hear the difference do you really care?

Sounding clean has NOTHING to do with the term SQ. If you want any SQ you loose all rumble. Read the noob posting guidelines (in my sig)
  13. You won't hurt them by having them play too high in frequency, just low. Listen to them on their own with some nasty music and see if they struggle, if so turn up the HP (SS).
  14. The best 4" hands down will most definitely require a tweeter and midbass to go along with it.
  15. July 29th? No SQ If there were I'd probably come down.
  16. That wouldn't work very well. Time to cut your door skins.

Bad plan. You can't fit an 18, you shouldn't even think about impedance rise, and that is more power than you need for a BTL.
  18. <--doesn't understand how you could fit 2 6.5's and not an 8
  19. If you truly "like your midbass" then you are going to need a lot more cone area than a single 6.5" driver can provide.

. . . . . . Followed by an interception. Damnit Childress has the wrong size fuse
  22. Blame your box, your score should be much higher for what you have. I'd surely rebuild before spending another dollar. x2 You need to redesign that thing.. apparently it doesn't do the trick.. wood's cheaper than anything else you'll change.. I will rebuild soon. But more power is needed anyway. I've already got everything in motion for my 2000's. So once I get them, I'll test and if it's still weak as hell then I will rebuild. Alan says nothing can really be said untill I get more power on them and we get to do some good long testing with it. I'm not just ganna give up on it. There is alot I need to do before I consider it a lost cause. Go ahead and follow bad advice. Your problem is your enclosure.
  23. Not without sharing your goals.
  24. Alright. I get what you are saying. The RTA is useless to me unless I plan on doing a SQ competition. Other than that it is pointless because it will most likely sound like crap to me even though it was probably intended to sound like that. I guess it would be better without because everyone has different preferences in the way that they listen to music. Some people like to hear symbols and whatnot while others like to hear more drumpedal notes. IMO it isn't very useful even if you want to compete because you won't find a judge who likes a ruler-flat response. Plus the sensitivity of the ears is not flat. Dangerous in fact. On top of that there are all sorts of settings on a RTA that will greatly effect the results. A, C weighting, time constants, going beyond 1/3 octaves...

Automatically. Only stops every 5 hours instead of 30minutes as well.
