It takes more knowledge to integrate a passive radiator as you have to compute the mass of the radiator for tuning. Very comparable to a ported enclosure but without port noise and a slightly steeper roll off. Considering in a car port noise is generally not an issue the only advantage it buys you is that you don't need a long ass port.

Rattles aren't helped by deadener, tightening the hinges and putting something like a foam of sorts between the rattling surfaces can though.

Amusingly I have the opposite take. If you want to get loud sure they will do that, but they require a ton of eq and generally aren't so good sounding. Again though if loud is your goal they could fill it.
