Actually sort of funny. My buddy had a new F150 (2007) since he drove all the big 3 and really liked the fact that the Ford was way quieter. We traded trucks as I needed a real truck, well I needed a truck without a topper anyway. He drove mine and couldn't figure it out. He thought holy hell GM went to shit over time. Not my brightest friend as he had completely forgotten about the deadener and treatments. Amusingly he commented on the window seals which are the reason I didn't deaden further, those mother fuckers howl like hell Funny on a production truck though the rest of it is so loud you hardly notice.

GM's never been a front-runner in the NVH category. In fact, they are one of the worst. It all goes back to quality, and again, they are poor. Agree 1000%. Exactly why I thought they may have been changing some resonance between the pad, caliper, and rotor. I have seen them do stranger things.

Yeah, maybe someone at the factory was having fun, or they needed to change unsprung weight at the last second. Might be to address brake squeal. There is some really shitty engineering going on in the brake world right now. A bunch of misinformed and not educated in the right technique engineers are left making NVH decisions they shouldn't. Half can't even do a successful FE correlation which is rudimentary to a successful design.
