Welcome to the IHoP
Interesting prediction, why? As I do not want to turn this into a political thread at all. I strongly prefer zero politics on SSA. So with that said, it is very disappointing what the American public is told to believe and the choices we are given. The two main choices are massive polar opposites and neither represent the majority of the country at all as only in reality, only a small faction of people are as left as one and as right as the other. I am disgusted how the DNC has taken the approach of win at all costs no matter how illegal, and just as disgusted with the RNC for pushing so far out to the right and not hitting the issues with a realistic approach and spending too much time pointing the finger at the incompetence and poor choices of the other side while not addressing their own mistakes and how they will not make them again. Now I voted this morning for someone other then the major two choices. In the end it was a lost vote as this state is so far corrupt and in the bag for the DNC voting at all either way makes no difference, but I still voted. I am not at all saying one person is better then the other, but that the position that the population is in with two very poor main options to choose from. Just so hard to believe we have fallen this far this fast and this is the best both sides can come up with. Tonight will tell us who won, but in the end we never really had the power to make the choice our selves as a population. The winner was decided a while ago, and there are dead people voting to ensure that end result. Such a sad position we are in. The worst part about it for me is the massively out of control far far left tax and tax and raise taxes and tax and spend governor that has nothing but lied the entire time. Financially, it is very rough to stay and live in this state, but as it only is going to get even farther worse we cannot afford to make a change with out taking a major loss. Sorry for the rant, just so disappointed, and no please people do not turn this into a political debate like so many threads are on other large forums filled with uneducated about the facts people post biased talking points from the media. I really hope Keith Olberman / Rachel Maddow are out of a job now. Media, that is another subject of the poor state we are in, they really showed their ass these last two years, proving that the next four will be purely filtered and spun full of My question was rhetorical which you probably noticed 5 posts further down. The real question is where is the economically conservative, socially middle person that the country really needs.

Sealed box, Common or separate chambers?
Don't make symmetric holes in it, but asymmetric ones. Not that it makes a huge difference in a sub box, but generically it is a good idea.

First System - Help w/ Selection/Rate Already purchased parts
:( Not a good reason to put in a system and won't earn you a lot of respect here. It should be for you. Also, if that is truly your desire you are going about this all wrong. You would need a large box and big subs for that purpose.

Question for you Texans. Is Schaub done for the year or just 4 weeks? I'd guess the year, but I see conflicting reports here and thought maybe you had heard more info.

building an HT from scratch
IMO that room is way too small for 7.1, way.

Jl 1000.1 amp
For the same price, the JL is a no brainer IMO. Better resale for later, capability to drive different loads if you change your setup. They shouldn't be the same price, the JL should be more so either the JL is underpriced or the Memphis overpriced.

Sealed box, Common or separate chambers?
So it would be a center divider with a whole in the middle? Err, perhaps just call it a brace.

Agreed. Go for the BL's.

Linedrivers? Good or bad for spl?
As long as the amplifier puts out its rated power, which as John stated should be measured with an Oscilloscope, there is no benefit for stepping up the input voltage. Personally if I were you and really wanted to know, I'd measure the output of my headunit for clipping with the o-scope and then do the same for the amplifier. If you hit power, there is nothing left to be gained. (pun intended)

How to Deaden Hatch
What about covering the surface with big pieces of deadener vs small pieces ? To the OP : Get the W6 The aluminum layer is your friend so the more complete it is the better the barrier it will be. The mass loading portion won't care however. <--has no love for the W7

Got a HO alt, 1 extra battery, still dimming
Well without the big 3 your upgraded alt isn't really doing anything. That is your first step. I personally have no issues with Everstarts and actually think they are a good buy. They are what I use in my boat for the trolling motor since in that application they seem to last as long as an Optima anyways. In this case more is better than a better battery anyways. The other thing I see are people using cheap headlights that are overly sensitive to voltage fluctuations. If you thought you were cool and bought some fake Xenons or cheap blue bulbs expect them to dim much, much more easily. (not inferring you did that just making a point, but I will ask if you have changed your headlights?).

(Misconceptions??)
Close, but theoretically not even. 1000w to 2000w = 3dB gain, 2000w to 4000w = 3dB gain. However, the dB scale is logarithmic so that is way more than it sounds. I guess you now realize why some of us laugh when people compare buying a 700w amp to a 1kW amp, or better yet a 75w vs 100w front stage amp. So what sort of misconception is this? In reality you should buy a good quality amp and not worry about numbers, everyone seems to fixated on the numbers which is a rather useless thing to do. Also the reason that education beats power. All of these idiots with 3kW amps and huge power hungry subs with low output in the SPL world getting spanked by guys with 200w and a well thought out install really cracks me up.

(Misconceptions??)
A search will give you your answer; however, I will add here that there is a misconception that Capacitors cure your voltage woes. This they do not. Another misconception, Hifonics amps are worth buying. So many confused souls.

Regular vs Slim subs also General Box Size questions
No difference in sound, but definitely a difference in dynamic capability. Low depth = low excursion which means low output at low frequencies. Many "slim" subs are better off being used as a midbass although there are exceptions. Personally I would avoid them if I could. I also disagree with your footprint statement. A small sub can fit in a smaller footprint box than a slim sub. Slim subs take more volume typically than some small box woofers which increases their footprint. Considering you speak about SQ and not output in most of your threads, you really want a sub that plays the lows. This of course means a sealed box and a driver with some dynamic capability, not IMO a slim sub.

Sealed box, Common or separate chambers?
I'd always run a common chamber if possible. Please brace like you would if you had a center divider, but keep the chambers together. Separate chambers need to be identical, but then the woofers need to be identical as well. Considering this isn't real possible as there are production variances keeping them in the same chamber makes sense. Of course as hinted above if one of the drivers fails and you are wailing on your system you will kiss your other driver goodbye as well; however, the cure for this is to use your ears and brain. A stressed woofer will sound stressed and is easily turned down. The only benefit I see in separate chambers is that you can put the subs in two different locations.

No chit.... Tech fans have a reputation for tearing their own stadium up. That's a cool way to raise tuition... I'm pretty sure with the 8-10 times that #1/#2 got beat last year the field was never stormed. Storming the field is something chitty teams do when they know it will be impossible for them to achieve more, maybe their smarter than I thought? My city is home to the 8th biggest sports rivalry in the US, I attend one of the rival high schools. The rivalry started when my school was built and we started sharing the stadium with Idaho Falls High School and the winner of the game, called the Emotion Bowl, paints the goal posts their school colors, sadly they have been orange for the past 2 years, no blue this year 8th biggest? How are these ranked.
