  1. Or two four channels, which would be my preference. Lots of juice on the midbasses would be teh sweetness.

Eh, it happens. Just don't drink good scotch while working on homework. After just a little bit you say f' the homework and enjoy the scotch. That was exactly why I drank scotch with homework Except I no longer have scotch anymore. Me and a friend drank an entire 1L bottle of glenlivet last weekend in one sitting. It was a hell of a good night. The first bar I went to last weekend in McLean (while I was still remembering things and sober) had a bottle of 25-year Macallan's. Even by the drink that's too much for me One of the bars around here has Blue label on the shelf, also the smallest steak this bar serves is 1lb, and from what I understand, their steak is gooood. Glenlivet > Blue label Which glenlivet? *All I've found here is the 12yr, I'm assuming that there is others...* The 12 is better than blue. JW is a joke IMO.
  4. It is easier to make a ported box play low than it is to make four speakers image. A low tuning frequency and decently large port is all you need. There is no reason that ported boxes can't sound good, although it is easier with a sealed for sure.

You really need to buy 2 bottles of scotch, a good one to get started and something like Dewars to switch to once you are halfway home. It makes it a 2 night bottle while keeping you happy the whole time for a bit less dough. Of course, the issue usually is that the second night happens right after the first, but wtf you are in college.
  7. i agree. for subs.... a good head unit and a good amp should allow your to get where you wanna be..... unless maybe M5 tell me if im wrong here...... your going stright up SQ.... then i would only imagen you would need a great h/u a great amp/ exteral EQ a prosseser. and a crazy cross over. The best way to build an SQ system is to use the KISS principle. If you can get away with no processing by installing things right it would always be my preference. If you can't of course a processing can surely help.

  9. Natural selection failed that fellow. Too many checks to keep us safe in our society these days I guess. Sorry you had to deal with that. Ugh.
  10. And if you don't have room for an 18, do realize that the 15 (in the right space versus the cramped 18) will not only sound better but be louder as well.
  11. I defined TA earlier in the thread. Time alignment. BP is bandpass. HP is high pass, and LP is low pass. When you combine a high pass and low pass together you get a band pass. ie if I crossover from 300hz to 5khz I am letting a band of frequencies through which means I have a bandpass. In this case the HP (meaning it passes the highs through) is 300hz and the LP (passes lower freq's through) is 5k. Driver suggestions are still pre-mature. This is a fair amount to chew, you should perhaps really make sure you want to go this route. As I stated the more simple option would be to just be rid of the tweeter and run a midbass & midrange combo. You will need a midrange that plays rather high, but that isn't that hard to find.

Do the Maggies fit in your vehicle? Yes. Get your damn training setup I'm workin on it. So you want me to save 'em for you? The W will kill me, but eff her If someone buys them before you sign up for your class, karma wins and they can have them. Otherwise if you have a delivery date, I will send you some moola asap. I can't give you a definite on the training date because I won't know if I'm in until a couple weeks before hand. K-State paid a 70k fee years ago so that paid for all training from the university. If the class isn't full of paying people we get in. I am not in a hurry, we can work something out.

  14. For the 3 way I'd propose. 880 LP & TA to sub wherever 880 BP (HP & LP) to midbass in door 880 HP to midrange/tweeter located together in the kick Amplifier LP to midrange (880 does the HP amp does the LP leaving you with a BP ) Amplifier HP to tweeter Conveniently in the same location and axis the tweeter & mid can share the TA settings from the 880. If you truly want midbass and kicks to "whack" you this is your solution. Nearly any sub can fill in the rest.
  15. Your D310 can do everything it can do for your subs other than have a knob. Conveniently nearly all sub amps come with an optional knob which will be much cheaper and a better solution than using an offboard piece.
  16. You don't have to speakers based on the power. Not sure what you are showing off, either way it won't be much of a show. Standard wiring is in effect meaning that you will have to connect 4 of the drivers to two outputs and run the amp at 2ohms on those channels. And yes, you only need to "kill" one of the leads. Free air marine speakers will sound like ass and not last btw.

  18. I have size 15's so I know how you feel. In a full size truck it could still be done though.

Gee, you posted my thoughts before I did. Exactly my reasoning. GMTA You would have said something but I have to ask, with the temp extremes here and humidity have you had and experience of failure. My roof is a big concern it's terrible and needs some desperate attention. No issue at all, I didn't even pre-clean the metal
  20. If you go the three way route can you put the midbass in the door and the mid/tweeter in the kicks? The 880 only has 3 t/a (time alignment) outputs. Sub, mid, tweet. So you could use the tweet outputs to cross the mid/tweet if they were mounted in the same baffle and have them share a time alignment setting. You would then have to have an amplifier with a crossover to bandpass, highpass the two drivers.

I've only used about a pint of it to get into the weird areas that couldn't be reached with mat I find it excessively amusing to apply though lol I just wanted to play with sludge too LOL raam mat says butyl.. here is a snipit from theirweb site. *** The result of more than five years of development, testing and installation, RAAMmat BXT is designed for maximum effectiveness and ease of application. RAAMmat BXT is a premium Butyl mat - the only mat we sell and the only mat we use ourselves. ****** ok, butyl it is, I just wasn't sure yes, Raam is very much Butyl. I would want that misconception to run wild. Raam is good enough for Sean (///M5) SS is good enough for Acidburn Both are good enough lol I really don't know how SS or Raam could be different other that the thickness or a different foil backing. One thing people complain about is that Raam comes in a roll, while SS comes in sheets. Really makes no difference to me Either are good enough for me. Of course, the reason I preferred the Raamat when I bought mine was because it was thinner. ie I could choose where I wanted to apply more; however, at that time I could get Raamat much cheaper than I can now and haven't weighed the options since then. I think it is much closer now.

I'm having trouble finding a difference between the 2 products, are there any sid by side compairsons that anyone knows of? Raam is asphalt based (IIRC) while SS is butyl and check out www.sounddeadenershowdown.com Raam is also butyl.
