I'm going to keep it completely stock and not beat the crap out of it. I too have heard that the IRS is a weak point. Naturally, I will have to go over both of them top to bottom in person, and I'll do that to the CTS this month. I think there is a CTS-DI at the dealership ... I'll take a look/drive whenever I get the truck in for service. Take both for a drive back to back and then weigh the wallet...sorry, it hurts to like nice stuff. As the hop heard me admit, I am an elitist and there are HUGE differences between the cars but either one you choose I will respect. Well mostly anyway

A fairly small sealed box will fill your SQ needs, you will have no problem overwhelming your fronts with it.

With the advent of all the pc controlled shit in cars they both scare me a bit regrettably--but that really holds for all new cars, the Cadillac has less cpu control but what they use I trust less since the general is in charge. I do find the Bm'er a lot more enjoyable to drive, it makes the transition from beating on it to civilized daily driver amazingly well. I would expect the longevity of the BM'er to destroy the Cadillac too. The whole IRS is a bit shady on it and can't take even mild power adders which doesn't bold well for it holding out in the long run. On the other side, if you part with your cars before they hit any serious mileage and don't abuse the chit out of them I think both would probably be fine. They are both fun to drive, the Cadillac just isn't nearly as refined as the BM'er...not even close.

Not that much difference in volume, unless you are competing. Either way your budget is pretty skimpy and going to really reduce the choices to nothing really all that worth while.

Yep, tons of units that are capable, but not so many that are currently available. Eclipse 7000/7100, Alpine 9887, Pioneer 880prs, Clarion DRZ9255 (also the 77x or something, but it doesn't bandpass), Ural CDD and of course I am leaving something off, but basically that is the list of ones that actually have real crossover points and not some stupid misnomered highpass for components. Those will all bandpass a mid and highpass a tweeter. The cheapest off board proc is the XM-6 which you can find for about $50. It still isn't ideal in my book though and the next real jump is over $100 in which case you would be much better off selling the Kenwood and buying a different deck.
