The only upside is the sound of the waves crashing on the beach

I can't wait to get out of this hell hole called California and get back to the snow...and more importantly to people that are actually worth a shit.

  5. If you have no serious processing the CA will be a lot easier to integrate, but the L18 will have more midrange detail. Have you ever compared a paper and hard surface cone back to back before? They are distinctly different but both very nice drivers. My memory says that you have a 7949, do you also have the pra-400 (IIRC)? Either way I am curious as to what you will have for eq to tame the cone resonances on the L18 and what slopes and crossover points are available in your setup as well. Lastly, your installation locations and aimings would be helpful to know.

    Good luck mang!
  7. Either you step up to a 9887, 880prs, 7100 or down to an entry level as the steps in between don't really offer anything special. If you really want to shop a price range, just buy a Pioneer, Eclipse or Alpine that has the "features" you are interested in and you will be fine. There really isn't any sonic difference between the new entry level stuff from those brands and the units under the "pro" style ones that I listed. If it were me and $200 I'd would exclusively buy used.
  8. then I'd up or down the budget, that is right in the middle of where anything makes sense.
  9. ? you need a certain length per port area, it is just as easy to compute for one or two. What exactly is your question?

it depends, why were you thinking that?
  11. They sound good. And are comparable to other good sounding subs.
  12. why chicken taco's for breakfast?
  13. ahh, I thought this was a for sale thread.
  14. Even still if the wire supports the current a longer ground isn't really an issue anyways. The distance it "runs" through the uni-body isn't exactly short either...

we need video proof. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Then I'd have to kill you though
  16. I would highly encourage you to build a design someone else already has, the ones at HTGuide are a great place to start.
  17. If you are buying components take all your budget and put it in the fronts, having rears will NOT make it louder.
  18. Not really a step up.
  19. The problem is those are complete opposites, you need to define one or the other and then compromise.

I hadn't heard of him before, but do know of a few others who have been unsuccessful with a similar but different enough technique. He has a mini-array with 4 1" drivers that plays to 30hz FREE AIR. Friggin' nuts.
  22. ///M5 replied to mrray13's topic in Off Topic
Not sure where have you heard that? Obviously if from me yes.
  23. You don't need a line driver with that headunit.
  24. As long as it is thick and stiff enough there won't be a difference.
