what is with all the nobs lately. aargh.
  4. the speakers are 8 ohm, and im referring to using 5 per channel. 5x 8ohm speakers in parallel = 1.6 right? if not, ill use 4, and get a 2 ohm load. I believe the specs on those about as much as I believe you have an SQ install I'd really measure before making any more assumptions.

Cats suck. A dog I will own, but first I will have a child. I don't want anything tying me down until I am already tied down.
  9. How much custom work are you willing to do? I imagine a lot since fitting 6 mids in each door isn't trivial.

Your idea of acceptable and mine are not on the same level.
  11. The GTO's are nice, but his box is lame. He should have bought wallmart drivers if he was going to build a box that isn't even wallmart quality. Booo!
  12. Personally I'd use some converted "subs" for midbass and some pro-audio mids. Most definitely not Eminence, but perhaps some B&C stuff. There are really a ton of options but it comes down to where you are going to fit what, your budget, and how much power you are going to throw at it. From my perspective you should force everything to fit up front.
  13. The cvr isn't much of a sub period and while it would be possible to build a reasonable output bandpass box it is way beyond your mathematical capabilities and if you put it in a pre-fab bandpass the outcome will be one of the worst sounding setups eVar. *note not picking on your math skills as there are very few people who would get this right the first time around no matter what. If you are willing to consult, think, and perhaps build 3 or 4 different boxes you might get it right.

Rookie. My single RL-i8 T-Box has external dimensions of 3.67cuft. It wouldn't fit in my trunk either
  16. too many mids, way too many mids. I understand you are looking for output from the fronts and I probably have a bigger Seas boner than anyone on this site but using 12 doesn't make any sense. IMO you should up the size of the midbass and use a dedicated midrange as well.
  17. I think the may is out of place. Unless you really want to tinker and re-do IB is the way to go with midbass drivers in a car.
  18. ha, I lost mine too. must have packed it up for the "move". currently it is mounted just with gasket tape and looks great, of course it is flush mounted like it should be.
  19. if you do suede, don't do blue
  20. Currently your front stage is your big limitation and needs to be completely replaced if you are going the SQ route.
  21. Your 1.6 comment will really depend on the speakers. If the specs are off a bit I would say no, unless they are off in the other direction. If you actually measured the 1.6 I would say you are okay, but I know you didn't and I am not referring to DCR either.
  22. Your friends box sucks and should be rebuilt. Floor grade isn't good, 5/8" isn't thick enough, and not gluing the edges completely destroys the box.

By way I mean the external dimensions on my single Rli8 ported enclosure equate to using 3.25cuft total. Big box

By some space constraints I think you stuck with sealed. IMO they sound way better sealed though, but I am also far from a basshead. The real question is how much space do you have? *a single RLi8 ported takes way more space than an RLP sealed. WAY
