I use a lot of apple, cherry, mesquite, maple, lilac, but mostly apple. Partly since its my favorite and partly since there are a ton of orchards nearby so its pretty much free.

    Beautiful.
  8. If it wasn't complicated I would have done it a while ago. Being that I will have to defend the results I want them to be bulletproof.
  9. If you go 9887 you really should just jump and run them active. You could still use two mids if you think you must, but I'd really recommend a single tweet. That era GM truck does not do well with pillar mounted tweeters by the way.
  10. Search for Sheffield Labs test cd's. You should find something. I did pm you a link for downloading, but if your cd burner is dead you might need to find a friend that has one that works.
  11. There are a couple ways to taper response of a driver one is through the crossover and the other the box design. Planning and measuring in your application will let you optimize both. Proximity to reflecting walls will cause a major difference in output and create anomalies in your response that will need to be dealt with. Part of the reason I am a big fan of active crossovers, it is just not possible for a manufacturer to release a passive that will be optimized for my installation. So Lee, you never responded. Is this for your truck?
  12. I'll say the same, new box time.

    morning and holy hangover
  14. Analog is fine, 20% of the reading is really close enough. Disconnected yes.

we don't have them, and I am not unhappy about it at all.
  19. That's a good way to blow his amp. that would give him a .5 ohm load. i'm thinking his coils are wired out of phase. when you have the gain up and the music going is the sub getting hot?? do you have access to a digital multimeter?? He's got them in series, but even still it is possible that one of the terminals was marked incorrectly from the factory. Measuring the DCR should give us a pretty good idea though.

never seen the red wasps before either.

"spun" is a bit of an understatement.
  22. Get a gain setting cd. Measure the voltage on your: Rca's going into the amp. Turn your headunit to around 45 and measure the rca voltage in AC before it goes into the amp. Power between ground and positive on amp Power between remote turn on and positive on amp Voltage output of the amplifier terminals (sub disconnected) Measure the DC resistance of the terminals on your sub box. Let us know what they all are and it will be easy to fix.

    Drive on over.
  24. You always want to remove as much of the fixture as possible when looking at modal bending a damping measurements. I string is too rigid, while a bungee allows more freedom. It will depend on the frequency range of interest as well though.
