  1. When you say SPL is an issue, what sort of SPL are you used to or looking for. I like sealed, but if your SPL reference is more important use a low tuning and port away.
  2. If it were actually fast I'd buy one.

  4. Scrapped the BBS idea for those for sure!

At home, but working today in the lobby of the Marriot. Werd.
  6. I use a Bruel & Kjaer Pulse system, or a Polytec DMS system; however, the cheaper of the two is in the realm of $40k. For speaking testing the WinMLS system I have heard is good, the concern you are going to have there is with the data acquisition and microphone. I am a big fan of measurement mics, but again they start in the $1500 realm--all of which is way overkill for what you are doing. Another semi-pro option is to use a TEF analyzer. They are used by A LOT of speaker manufacturers who are too cheap to buy "real" gear. If you go with a soundcard based solution beware and get a real soundcard and when I say real I mean a Proaudio card. My preference is for a desktop machine since laptop cards are outrageous and then it will let you use your desktop machine as a better CD player than anything else you have. Get another hardrive and you have a media center. When you reference cheap it scares me. A cheap soundcard can be off by more than 8db by 10kHz and easily by that below 100Hz. It is easy to test, just take the output from your card and wire it to the input and run your measurement. Shocked me when I did my dell laptop and it was off as I stated before. My M-audio card is less than a .2db off which is way below the uncertainty of any mic in the cheap realm. Feel free to dig around and if you find something, I'd be glad to read its specs for you and translate for you.
  7. Deflated. I bought one of those air pressure nozzles for my compressor with a built in gauge, it makes it way easier especially when you have 3 cars, 2 trailers, a motorcycle and some other she-i-o.
  8. Sort of looks like a snuffleupagus with the hose running down the middle, but that wouldn't stop me from owning one.
  9. If I were doing an IB install I would be more prone to looking at it, can't really do that in my truck though. I did buy my SEAS from NP, they are actually the set from his "how to deaden your doors" tutorial. Super nice guy to work with and helped me out with questions as well. Seems pretty educated and crafty with his testing and I like a lot of the design parameters including the $150 price tag but again without a review it is tough. Same thing sort of killed Brad's IB sub which also would have been neat. Oh well, time to wait and see.

The '680 isn't too bad of a cart for hi-fi, better than the 500's. What kind of condition is it in? Stellar condition other than the cover being cracked. The other one that I sold was a little more roughed up. I just assumed the 680 was a bit hard on the vinyl, but again I originally bought these to spin. In my next house hopefully they will be just used to play/output to digitize music. I still need to be a pre-amp though.

Almost lunch here and da woman is making breakfast. I on the other hand have been searching sewing forums trying to figure out what embroidery machine to buy her for the birthday. It is frigging super annoying, but sort of funny as you can imagine the "techy sewers" that are on the forums. They tend to be more board loyal than the car audio sites as well, sort of like the eD lovers. LOL. PM'ing ninnies FTL! edit *out of habit typed a w by accident* LOL!!

Poor vinyl collection. When I move I am going to turn the main living room into a listening room and have a separate home theatre area.

I still have one. It has a Stanton 680 DJ cartridge on it though, and is hiding in my basement since I don't have a phono stage on the Adcom.

A while back I got two of 'em for $125, missing a couple of feet though. I didn't know if they were any good, but couldn't pass up the deal.

More importantly how would you act if you were the one that had the oversight and crunched something of your friends. I would replace what I broke instantly whether I had the cash or not, it is the respect that we need more this day. It just sucks when others aren't like that.

Steve, that is effin BS I'd definetely make sure they knew what they did. How moronic can the mechanic be, obviously with an install like that it is your baby. I have no patience for bastages who do that. Sorry for the hassle.

I don't normally use a stripper to clean my garage, just my pipes.
  24. Are you sure all your mids are still okay?
  25. The LOC's are nice, but crap in = crap out. If your HU is sucky it won't help.
