WTF?? Canadians set off fireworks for Halloween? If you were in Windsor, next to Detroit I would understand as it is close to hell night, but sh*t you are in BC that BS shouldn't happen there. Sorry to hear about your cat.

Uh, those are caddies not Honda's
  3. If you have a wirebrush for your drill remove the rust. Then you put a product like Tirefryr recommended: I use Extend. After you grind off the rust and Extend it tape off the area with the BLUE "easy remove" masking tape. You will also need to prime before painting, being you will have some grill brush marks use a "building up" primer that has a lot of extra body for filling grooves. Sand this smooth with 400 working your way to 1200 grit paper. Then go ahead and shoot the paint from the can (practive on a piece of cardboard first--start the spray before it hits the board and go past it). NOTE: Tape off extra so you can "overspray" onto it. To take off the ridge of paint from the tape, use 1000/1200 grit sandpaper with a dry thick sponge between your fingers and the paper (to prevent grooving). Then I would shoot any clear that you can find cheap in a can over the whole area. If you spray the clear well all you will really need to do is buff the area afterwards and you should be set.
  4. Allright, I need a break from working on my kick panels so I thought I would get to thinking about my next project. And being completely different I thought this might be fun. I have until spring to help my frugal friend put a stereo in his boat (21' Chris Craft). He already has a HU and a older fosgate amp 50x4. I have a pair of JL 10w4-0 subs that I will let him use for a reasonable price. The boat is used exclusively on Lake Minnetonka, most of the time the boat is tied to a line of other boats in the 20-30' range. Having the stereo that can be heard well behind the boat and sideways accross other boats allows you to be the one to choose the music--a must if I am going to go out with him. I want to propose two systems to him: 1) An extreme low cost--aka no new amp 2) A rational step up--another amplifier To maximize dispersion and volume--more important then either SQ or SPL: Pick a real high sensitivity horn from PE -- power off his hu with a passive crossover Run a pair (4 total) of midranges off each front channel of the amp at a 2 ohm load Run the 2x10" subs off the rear half of the amplifier. --For mounting I would build a ported enclosure for the mid/horn combo and make them dual mountable; one mount for inside the hull of the boat and another for mounting up higher for "parked" listening while you are not moving or outside the boat. The subs will be in the hull. So the questions are: Do you like my idea for the first option, any driver recommendations, and what would you do to add to the system for option 2.

How about this for a costume (realizing I live in MN) My wife is going with me as a prostitute and I am going to paint my skin black and go as Fred Smoot the cornerback for the Vikings who paid for the whole loveboat rental at Al & Alma's.

  8. Is there a make your own post? I am going to need some in a week or so, and would prefer the DIY direction.
  9. 3 wire: usually red, blue, yel. R&B are the drive, yellow is for sensing the rpm of the fan. Sometimes the sense is two wires, not normally R&B. It "shouldn't" hurt to just try connecting it up to your car battery and seeing which two make it spin (and check for the right way--put a wet finger or a light rag in front to judge the moving air if it isn't obvious)

  11. Ha, ha, ha. Best part of a Dell is the service. Usually if it less than a year old they will give you new batteries. Dell replaced mine multiple times in my older PC's, the LiON I have had good luck with in them.

Frickin' meetings until 1. Then in my cold ass garage until midnight!
  14. Thanks DB. I have a similar piece. An SX-20 Carver 2 way electronic crossover that I will temporarily use for setup. Can't find any information on it, I originally bought it about 15 years ago to x-over my sub amp. Back when I was running 3 15" JBL 1500GTi's in the trunk of a 68 Galaxy. Should be good enough for a start until I find a real x-over.
  15. Help if you can, PG is ignoring my emails. I am running my PG M44 bridged to 155@4ohms x 2 to power my front stage; however, the only way I could figure out how to do this is to use RCA Y splitters and run the left RCA to both inputs on one side of the amp and the right to both inputs on the other side. Isn't there a better way to turn the M44 into a 2 channel amp? If/when I go active it will be just running my mids...

  23. Some of the better laptops use what they call a peak/condition charger and it is actually better to leave it plugged in with the battery. Basically has a sense in the charger and will only charge when the voltage is low, after that it goes into conditioning mode. Same way you charge trolling motor batteries for boats, good RC batteries and such. What kind is it that you have a 3Ghz laptop?

Doh, foor=foot Not much room to aim with the clutch pedal either, but will get something done.
