  1. I want to start kinda fresh.... I don't think I'll want to put in the effort for an active setup... At least not now anyway... What I do want to do is possibly make a "homemade" passive set... Possibly using pre-made xovers and some nice drivers..... Would maybe using the Selenium or maybe the Peerless 830657 in conjunction with that O2 driver on a 2-way passive xover be any good??? Just trying to see if I can be somewhat creative in that manner instead of just buying a made set first.... Thanks for the replies so far though. Just to show more detail: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_25913_O2_OM-690.aspx with one of these midbass drivers: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=264-1088&FTR=830657 OR http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=264-422&FTR=selenium%206%20w4p WITH: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=260-140&scqty=1
  2. so the lesson learned is don't go cheap and plan ahead??? I was thinking about the Alpines but not sure .....
  3. well... I'm willing to invest about $200... Absolute $300 at max.... And I don't want to have alot of car mods to do... so I think 6.5" drivers are biggest... Maybe 8" if it fits budget and overall specs... I'm just looking to give my car clarity at the top end of the volume.... My subwoofer never gets set beyond -3 on my HU 90% of the time...
  4. Alright... so currently I have a shitty front stage since I was not looking to go "crazy" with the audio... that plan did not stay.. I went from some old school JL audio 10" w3's to a Pioneer Premiere 12" and then to a 12" SSA Icon and now I currently have a 15" SSA Xcon sealed enclosure... so far I love the sound... My front stage consisted of just Alpine 6x9 for a while and then I added some Polk Audio tweets in the dash... Not having alot of options on the EQ side I think I damaged a tweet which is whatever I don't care... I didn't have the right amps to do this setup and that is probably how I did that.. I was using a BA GT2-125 and no separate xover so I know the tweets were going too low.. So this is the setup currently...: 1" Polk Audio tweets 6x9" Alpine Boston Acoustics GT2-125 I want to keep that amp and either do a passive/pre-configured component set, like the Polk Audio MM6501 or maybe try out some other drivers ... One thing I was looking at were these Oxygen Audio drivers ... xover on the amp to about 100hz and call it a day... Should I do this???? Then I came across this xover .. which I know might be home oriented but I think could work ... If I did this what could I add as a tweeter??? Any help or suggestions would be great.... I know I've already asked about front stage but I left those other threads behind since I know that now I've pretty much got what I want for power and sub stage... Just need to figure out the front stage...
  5. did you get tweets Mac? Also how was the sound with the O2... I'm thinking of copying you slightly... but maybe getting a 2-way xover from parts express and adding in tweeters ... would like to get more detail on how they sound with your insane sub stage...
  6. I've been pondering front stage for a loooooong time now.... just not sure how or what to do.... so I'm looking at yours, mac'n'cheese so far and not sure what to do.... It's sooo fcking difficult...
  7. actually looks like a great start... we'll just ignore the first screw up and act like this is your first attempt then... ok??
  8. Kinda late in the game but the Sony's are pretty reliable with their desktops.... It's unfortunate they've ditched the smaller market that is out there that only require basic computing and cater to the entertainment market exclusively now... Anyway, that Acer looks pretty good....
  9. yes, that is correct... you'd be using that external one... then I'd give the Acer a vote...
  10. taken from the first review -"I will say right off the bat that this laptop has a great video card, but a low quality sound card. So if you do audio/video editing and not a lot of gaming, I would go with something else. If your a gamer though, this has unbeatable graphics for the -$600 price range. " aren't you specifically looking for something to record audio ???? honestly though I would let that stop me.. I'd use an external/USB sound for recording into a laptop anyway...
  11. looks great... kinda wish that there wasn't that grey cloth layer in between... but shit looks amazing bro!!!
  12. dual core is like a basic standard now... If you don't go dual then you'd be wasting $500... CPU or processor is what basically controls and handles all the requests you put through to the laptop... whether it's open the internet, run adobe, type in your password and even boot up the machine...
  13. so you're not sharing this laptop with the family right? cuz then any laptop is shit for that... But I am partial to Lenovo .... always have good build quality... Asus/Acer/Samsung are great buys as well... I would kinda stay away from HP only cuz I've done way too many "thermal paste" fixes on their units...
  14. nice photos... great that you have time for this and didn't finish your car yet!!!!
  15. nice man :fing34: .... what is his front stage setup? I can see what look like Crescendo super tweets... but what's the rest??
  16. vicks... garlic cloves... product call skin so soft... rubbing alcohol (after having scratched it alot) .... sometimes ice cubes on it for a while takes it away... i know some weirdos that poke/puncture it slightly and it somewhat goes away of the throw some rubbing alcohol in that...
