  1. An external equalizer should be in-line, between the head unit and the amp(s). That would be why it is doing nothing for you.
  2. The power:size ratio didn't really sink in until I had it in my hands. Pretty slick little amps. Since I am installing them in the center console, I'll be wiring to the front battery. I just placed an order for a set of TM terminals and a little 1/0 and 2/0 wire. Finally time to get the big 3 done.
  3. Upgrade time! 540 CCA to 850 CCA should help the D3100 in the rear buffer the demand on the alternator a little better.
  4. I have a pair of 10w3 sealed and they sounded pretty good to me. A little pricey for what they are, but they took extra power very well. They came with a vehicle I bought so it worked out ok.
  5. I've only been running it at 2 ohm, but it's been good to me so far. It certainly gets the sub moving well enough.
  6. Looking, looking, looking
  7. Still looking...
  8. If sandman isn't interested in that xcon, I might be.
  9. I have a 02 tahoe and I currently have a 15" xcon in a 3.5ft^3 box at 30hz wired to 2 ohm on a brz2400.1d. It's pretty snappy to me and after playing with some DJSNT today it can shake my steering wheel, among other things. An 18 would certainly be fun!
  10. Sweet! I am mainly interested in the physical size of them right now as I am sure the power is pretty self explanatory. I am hoping the 4000 won't be any larger than the 3500.
  11. So...when do the specs on these get released? Very interested in the 4000 variant.
  12. I'm about 90% sure they will be hiding in the center console, with a fan or two as well so they don't cook themselves under there.
  13. Look what showed up today! 1500 watts of full range micro machines. For $300 shipped for the set I just couldn't pass them up after all the great reviews they have been getting. I should have plenty of front stage headroom for a while now. Ipad mini for size comparison.
  14. I almost posted those very words a few hours ago. lol
  15. Where are you bringing up the power wire at? I'm trying to figure out how I want to re-wire my tahoe in the future as well.
  16. I sure miss the bikes I've had. I'd just ride for hours with nowhere to go. It like zen time for me.
  17. Yes, I trimmed the door card. They are on 3/4" mdf rings with ebr between wood and door metal, ccf between wood and basket. I kinda like the look of the shiny screws, though you're right, painting them would be a little more stealth as that is what I'm going for in the front end.
  18. Honda, Thanks for the comments, I have always liked the 99-07 GM trucks and SUVs. They are pretty easy to work on in my experience as well. I had a xs28 tweet fail on me and when I contacted ID about it they sent me a new one, no charge. I'll send them the same photos of the mids and see what comes of it.
  19. It sucks for sure, makes for a neat paper weight tho! When I would swap from stock to aftermarket speakers I would hear things in the music never heard with the stock speakers. Swapping from the ID to the Seas, I am having that experience all over again. The control and clarity is great!
  20. I was swapping out the ID XS65 for a set of Seas CA18RNX today and found something quite interesting. I had been complaining about the XS making a strange irritating sound and occasional scratchy coil noises in another thread. I thing I found the problem. These cones are literally cracking/tearing and I have not had them very long. I could see them overheating with 180w, but this seems a little more interesting. The two pics are one of each mid. I didn't take any progress pics as a speaker swap is pretty straight forward. Here is the finished product for today. It didn't take much work at all to get them sounding pretty good. I do have a gnarly peak at 2500hz that is right in the middle of two of my eq points. Oh the woes of a 16 band graphic eq. Other than that I am very happy with the switch. They are getting half the power the IDs were and are significantly louder in the mid range. Mid bass got a slight bump, though with a little more power and some play time I am sure they will do nicely. Thanks again to all who helped in the other thread, job well done! First time with the Jasper circle guide, made the rings a breeze. If you have a router, you should have a circle guide.
  21. I was just typing out the same method, is it me or is there something backwards here? If you are using LP on the sub, would you not start above the target freq and move down? For mids with HP, start below and work up?
  22. The second round dust cap reminds me of the Boston G5 I had.
  23. Time to make some dust...
