i would recommend tracing down the wires, don't put a bandaid on a gunshot wound. You probably have a bare wire grounding out somewhere if you have that much exposed copper

if you want to be happy and you can fit a 15" bl ported, then do it, if you can't....then fit a 12 that's why they come in different sizes, like condoms....one isn't "better" if there was a huge difference in sound Fi would advertise that, it'd be a great selling point. Alternatively, if one is larger and has larger box requirements then they'd probably just advertise that.
