i would kill for a beer right about now
  2. on another note....if i'm not doing so well....why is it you are replying to arbitrary comments?
  3. Welcome to noobdom. Am I writing in a tongue spoken on another planet? If you can't rephrase your comments in a commonly understood manner, your question is answered. BTW, what's stopping you from doing just that? Let me guess; your points are silly at best. Yet, somehow, you feel the need to keep posting, even though this is seemingly a lame attempt to try to get a piece of your own. Ruts-a-ruck. Again with the strawman argument? Clearly, the record says otherwise, so why spin the facts and not act honestly? <SIGH> At the risk of stating the brutally obvious, posting revolves around communication. As you're unwilling to make your comments easily understood, I'm certainly not willing to spend more time than necessary to go though the text. I'll settle for some quotes. As I encountered while posting here, the forum app will allow for quite a few quotes. Once more, you're acting dishonestly purely for the sake of a confrontation. Unfortunately, you aren't doing all that well. that was a hell of a lot of time and effort to completely avoid all the issues and simply tear apart arbitrary points. At least it's me doing it purely for the sake of a confrontation. I mean if you weren't simply trying to be confrontational you would have read the paragraphs which should be easy to understand and reply. Not choose my goof off reply and post a retaliation that is nothing more than you trying to move focus away from the matter hand.

ok i need someone with a legit copy of modest mouse - MISSED THE BOAT (or even mp3s...whatever) listen to the track, and at 1sec in on my mp3 there's a woman's voice int he background saying something. Anyone hear this shit? Takes a high volume but i swear it's there. edited because i typed the wrong damn song
  6. Lmfao i didn't realize the tags were respect, this one goes out to my homies... So you admit once again you have trouble understanding me, and yet claim it's everyone else not understanding you? and one other thing, why is it that you find it difficult to understand "" and refrain from reading a paragraph as opposed to a paragraph surrounded by quotes? edit:whew it won't let you quote many times at all, so there wasnt much of a point in me trying to quote all your quotes anyway
  7. I wasn't insulting you, i just don't want other people thinking that it's install dependent and an installer or diy'er getting their ass chewed over it. the big thing is crossovers and whether you're going to be going with an active frontstage or not.
  8. I don't have the time or the patients to screw with all the tags... "QUOTE I haven't used that 8, but every ID sub that I have played with preferred the enclosure on the larger side of their recommendations. Ahhh...so all 8" subs are the same. Brilliant." ok...you're saying he said all 8" subs are the same.... I'd say that's you misreading, or reading his mind? he said EVERY ID SUB. hence me informing you that ID is a sub, not a length. Saying that he said all 8" subs are the same is wrong. Please tell me where i'm arguing against my own claim? I"m not making the claims here, just letting you know what he said because you misread it. Also please show me where my "disingenuous assertion and the record" differ. Making a claim without backing it up is going to make everyone think you're a hypocrit. now I'll bite on this one even though i explained it pretty plainly, if you want me to use 50cent words to appear intelligent and boost my e-ego i can, but i prefer to talk like this. " first.... he's saying that you are doing the exact thing as him and saying that a .6 box will be "better" than a .9. How does he know without listening to the setup in the car, as he as no idea as to the room gain and in-cabin response. Why do I feel like I'm repeating myself? Clearly, you've read my others posts and we still get this gem of an argument. Please illustrate how such a thing is possible. Could you rephrase that please in a manner that's understood by other humans? ." yes, quite simply you can't tell me that you know the in vehicle response of the box as a .9 or a .6. So by choosing any value, regardless of where it falls in the ID range is simply you shooting in the dark. You haven't modeled your car because you actually asked for help on aiming the sub (which direction to fire it..not going to bother going and grabbing the quote). Since you don't know the response of your vehicle, and you don't know the response at .9, then you'd think you'd listen to someone who at least has experience with ID subs. Quite possibly other subs using the same motor/suspension which would behave close to the same. i didn't see where you said you had used ID subs?? Very possible that i overlooked it, but the last response was assuming you don't have experience with the subs, espeically considering your trivial questions about them. You can take offense to this one if you'd like but asking about sub direction, 1/2 mdf and using a manufacturer's recommended box size because it's "in the middle" doesn't say that you've tested the hell out of the sub. Nothing to do with intelligence so don't take it that way. And the beating your wife thing wasn't supposed to be funny, it's quite true. The amount of exercise you could get from beating nearly anyone can be quite healthy, the aggression is a stress reliever and the endorphin rush can be addictive. The point was keep it lighthearted and have a civil arguement. And I can go just as many rounds as you'd like, last i saw the scoreboard you weren't doing so hot .
  9. the micro fuse problem cannot be avoided by grounding it properly. I'm so tired of hearing people say this. I installed one that immediately blew the fuse and i know how to properly ground a unit, there had been 3 units tied to that exact ground and they had zero problems, and this included the replacement 880 that i got after the noisy one and a pioneer 960. Also grounding the RCAs does not always fix the problem, it helped in my scenario, but didn't even come close to solving it. now off my soap box. What do you want out of the radio?
  10. (somehow I doubt that you're laughing) If you can explain how to model room gain with nothing to go on other than a pic, you may revolutionize audio as we know it. If you can do the same with in-cabin response, the AES would make you an honorary member. Who the fruck make this guy a member of the tech team? This is Audio101. That's equivalent to asking, "When did you stop beating your wife?" Please illustrate your claiming the enclosure is too small. I'd love to see this. Ahhh...so all 8" subs are the same. Brilliant. So what? 1. As was already illustrated, the enclosure is not too small, regardless of your wishful thinking. 2. <sigh> Are you another poster who didn't take the time to read the thread, yet felt compelled to upload his confrontational comments, regardless. I have reasons for using 8" drivers. Whether you think there may be a "better" route is irrelevant to my needs. Do you actually think that someone like me didn't compare sub weights before making the choice? Yes, there are slightly lighter 8" subs - Quatros come to mind immediately - but I'm more comfortable with the IDs. I'm looking for a light enclosure; I really don't need advice as to the drivers. Clearly, your comment was meant to confront and not help. (Errrr...) Thanks anyway. {edited typo} Seriously asking people if they can read is getting a little old, especially when it's you that is misinterpreting what people are saying. first.... he's saying that you are doing the exact thing as him and saying that a .6 box will be "better" than a .9. No way around that, you might be using the median of their recommended values, but even if those values were the range of acceptable that in no way means the median will be proper for your application. more on this for second. Second, not all 8s behave the same way, and he never said they do, ID is a company, not a length. Third, Beating your wife can be fun, and it really is a great stress reliever, don't be an ass and knock something you haven't tried, it's insulting to us purists.

I'm not saying that the right person can't set their gain at 100% and be ok, i'm saying that it should not be done by 99% of the people. It's too risky for people that don't fully understand when to turn the volume knob down. keep your gain down and the volume knob on the radio is the most sensitive adjustment, the way it should be for most people.
  18. vladd replied to mrray13's topic in Off Topic
    so tired
  19. vladd replied to Tegan14's topic in Fi Products
.....gain should NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT be at 100%. That's why it blew, 100% your fault, it can be reconed and it'll be good as new though. When you get it fixed set your gains the proper way and hopefully get a proper amp.
  20. I can say the P18s have a more pleasing midrange than the CA's to me though i liked the bottom end on the CA's a bit more (not enough to make up the difference though). But I have found I like the sound of poly cones a bit more in general.

anyone else find it funny that the guy wanting the fisher box with 1/2" mdf a) actually thinks it'll be a performance difference b) has 30+ years of experience and built his $40k+ home system but needs someone else to build a 1.6cube box?
  24. my recommendation would be to try out a different set of 7s, something that reaches higher up. I've heard the MLI's don't really shine on the upper end like they do on the lower.
