it's the impedance of the coils, one isn't better than the other, it's just which will suit your amp the best. your amp does its power at 1ohm, so that's why you want the dual 2. dual 2 can be wired down to 1ohm

I took it to mean that with a receiver you're paying more for the flexibility of switching components (9million rca jacks on the back of the receiver) not for flexibility of tuning or performance.

500 each should be more than enough, 1500W to subs is probably going to be pushing it for an sq system. don't get me wrong, you don't need a lesser amp, but you probably won't be able to run the IXLs full tilt and expect the frontstage to keep up

not sure about where to get a recone, fi can do it if it's a standard coil size, but just FYI you saw like 1.5 peak-to-peak, not xmax. xmax only refers to how much linear travel the cone has. You may know this or not but I'm correcting you in case you or someone else that reads this thinks that they need 1.5in of xmax in a sub.
