2 18 fi q vs ?
i just have one 1 18 btl and im hugely satisfied with it. it plays the lows so hard compared to the 2 12 l7s i had before. i think the btl isnt louder in the higher freq but the lows oh my god thats awesome! now i have the chance to sell my btl and im thinking of getting 2 18 Qs in a sealed 9 cft. box because im very impressed by the sq of the btl (although the box i have is crap, less than 5 cft after displacement). is there a comparable sub to the Q? like alpines type x? amp is a bxi 2610. the Qs would run at 1 ohm (2,6 kw rms).

4th order for 2 18 btl
i want to build a 4th order bp for 2 18 btl and im pretty unsure about how to calculate the port. the sealed chamber is 2* 3,3 cft and the ported one 1* 10 cft. how do i design the port? does 40 hz work well or is that too low? shall i make the port for 5 cft @ 40 hz and then double port area (because both woofers will play in one ported chamber)?

18 btl, ported or bandpass?
i have built six ported enclosures. but i still can improve and learn alot in enclosure building.

18 btl, ported or bandpass?
why will it sound bad? Because with a 6th order there is NO room for error. oh i reffered it to the 8 awg cable xD hope that the 6 th order will be right. its my first bp...

18 btl, ported or bandpass?
nothing lol what speaker wire should i use? in my current box i have 8 awg to each coil. does 12 awg also work well?

18 btl, ported or bandpass?
port area is 92 inches² and 45 inches ².

18 btl, ported or bandpass?
i designed one chamber 2,5 cft @ 60 hz and the other one 4,8 cft @ 30 hz. ive never build a bp before, do you think this will work fine?
-
18 btl, ported or bandpass?
yes thats what i know too. the question is either a 6th order bandpass (~7 cft net volume) or a ported box (~7 cft net volume).

18 btl, ported or bandpass?
i just planned to put my 18 btl in a 6th order bandpass (60 hz / 30 hz tuning) and i already got the wood sawed too. ive never tried a bp yet so i thought it would be nice to give it a chance. what do you think? is it better to put the btl in a big ported box or go with the 6 th order. i currently have a 5 cft ported box @ 30 hz but i want to increase efficiency and loudness of the box. amp is a bxi 2610.

18 btls sealed? why not?
oh sry. im in europe and theres a time shift.

18 btls sealed? why not?
i just dont understand why im not "allowed" to put btls in a sealed enclosure. its a fi forum and heres no fi specialist?

18 btls sealed? why not?
i have 2 18btls but only one can fit in my car with a ported box. actually i want to sell one btl but in case i dont find a customer who buys it for a reasonable price, can i put both btls in a sealed box? as the other btl would just lay around losing price. i know fi doesnt recommend that. and i know i will lose alot of spl. but how would the sq change?

Tuning to 32hz, 37hz, 40hz or higher
i had my box built false (18 btl) and it was then tuned to around 40 hz. of course it had good deep bass, way better than my l7s had on 35 hz. so it depends hugely on the sub model you use. but now in on a 6th order bandpass with lower tuning (30 hz / 60 hz). but i would never go with 40 hz again since im more into sq.
-
how to tune the box right?
ok now i changed the port and made it 43" long. should be around 30 hz now. the front chamber is around 55 hz.
-
how to tune the box right?
i build a 6th order bandpass for my btl. front chamber 2,5 cft @ 62 hz rear chamber 5,2 cft @ 36 hz i cant tune lower the rear chamber without losing too much volume and the slot would probably reach the sub... will this box above give good deep bass?
-
how to tune the box right?
if i increase port length the net volume would lower under 5 cft. does the 18 btl sound good with 36 hz? id like some sq but also much of loudness.
-
how to tune the box right?
i have designed a 7 cft enclosure for an 18 btl. the volume is with woofer displacement. how do i calculate a port to 30 hz then? is this ok?: 4,72" * 19,69" * 29,92"

18 btl in a 6th order bandpass?
my current box is tuned way too high... but if i tuned it to about 30 hz now the net volume would be around 5 cft which is too small i think. so im really interested in building the 6th order bandpass.
-
18 btl in a 6th order bandpass?
no i dont compete. but i just wonder if that bandpass of the calculator would sound louder than my ported box now (~ 6 cft, 38 hz) although the bandpass would have negative gain.
-
18 btl in a 6th order bandpass?
ive used this calculator: Sixth-Order BANDPASS SUBWOOFER ENCLOSURE DESIGN calculator after i filled in the parameters i got this result: http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/6509/unbenanntxf.jpg it says a negative gain? wtf? can i try the building with these values? how would the btl sound if the bandpass is built false? ps: how do i calculate the box on my own?

18 btl in a 6th order bandpass?
i want to build a new enlosure for my 18 btl. ive never done any bandpass box before and now id like to try it. do you have any suggestions or a website were i can find a good instruction how to build a 6th order bandpass (calculator)? i have a suv and ~10 cft of space.

5 cft gross volume for 1 18" btl?
what port width do you suggest then? for 28 hz. my englisch isnt that good... sry.
-
5 cft gross volume for 1 18" btl?
so thats the box ive designed for 1 18 btl: Height * Width * Depth 21,18" x 39,37" x 25,12" port: 21,18" x 5,2" x 29,53" tuning freq: ~28 hz net volume: 8,25 cft i have 6 inches left to the rearwall of my car. is it then better to put the port upwards like the sub?
