I'll try to keep this short as possible. The other day I was browsing through the classsifieds over at ca.com. I stumbled upon an MX 12. So I said to myself that id like to try an MX, I heard great things about them, also they look sexy for my inverted install. So I offered to trade my 12" mag(current gen) for it. He said cool. i traded. I have had the mx now for about 3 weeks. I must say Im dissappointed :(

The sound was kinda up there with the mag but it didnt have that certain "crisp" edge of sq that I liked in the mag. I could deal with that fine. But the absolute sh!ttiest part is. The DAM Mechanical Noise the MX puts out. Its ridiculous to hear that much noise coming from 1 sub. its dam loud especially since i have an inverted install, its to the point where it drowns the bass out if look right at the sub. luckily i have a trunk car and the seats filter that noise out. Also whats the deal with those terminals on the MX, on the mag it was the push terminals and I could use my bananna plugs with ease.

So thats my rant just complaining how naive I was for trading gods gift to man for an gods give to women sub...a noisy one.

So Keep your Mags! or trade my MX for it :)

Yep, I sold my claw and my latest gen Mag and regretted it ever since. So last night I grabbed a newest gen mag off of ca.com. Never again will I be without a mag. Muwauhahaha

no, its clearly mechanical noise. it isn't a defect. I asked around.

heard a couple of MX's and i heard no mechanical noise. maybe cuz of the invertendess.

probably the invertness. Most people don't realise how much "noise" a sub can really produce.

i am going to assume its because of the neo motor. it heats up and the way the sub was designed its using that free flowing cooling. cause the noise is mainly coming from the air moving in and out where the coil gap is.

maybe cuz of the invertendess.

That's a great word...invertedness. :)

Hind-sight is always 20/20, but good luck trying to snag a new Mag.

I was just thinking that. It is funny the words that are made up for the audio world that don't exist, but we all know and understand exactly what they are. ;)

Maybe you should make a thread over on the FI forum and ask scott about it?

just a thought..

or maybe go to CSO the official RE forum and ask about it ;)

i think jfab was suggesting that because Scott was the original one who designed the sub. but i dont care now, i will be replacing this mx with the new Mag :)

or maybe go to CSO the official RE forum and ask about it ;)

Ever since the sale the RE forum there has been decreasing in thread/post volume. hmm........

because RE switched their focus to the B&M dealers. it's where the money's at.
