Posted July 22, 200718 yr Okay I just recieved my two 12" SSD with copper coils about a week ago. I purchased a very large sheet of mdf yestarday so I'm set with wood. I also just purchased a US AMPs XT4000D so I am also set on power. This is my first time building a box. I am going to be putting the box in the bed of my avalanche so I have a boat load of room. I was going to tune to about 32 or 33 Hz and do 2.5 cubes per sub. This box will be ported. If someone could provide me with diminsions that would be awesome!!! or even a plans. My friend who is going to be helping me build the box (he has experience building boxs) said he will help me. Thanks a lot if any of yall could help me!!!!!
July 23, 200718 yr Sent an email earlier... if you can post some dimensions or email some I can design a box based off of where and how you want them to fit. Hopefully Shawn will pop up on here as well since he has an Avalanche. Thanks,Scott
July 23, 200718 yr Author I sent you an email scott. here is what i have to work with about 63" X 42" 22". I understand how to build a regular box but the midgate part is a little tricky. Do I first build the box. Then take out hte midgate and lay it down over a piece of wood and trace around it, cut that out, and then cut the holes out for the subs and then screw that piece of wood to the box once it is in place??? Thanks Edited July 23, 200718 yr by qualitywah
July 23, 200718 yr Just saw this post too... your other dims say 49" W and thats what I designed things too. Is it 42" wide then? Ill redraw and design based off of that if its the case. As for the midgate, what you described sounds like a solid idea. That would give you 2 layers for the front baffle (with subs either recessed into the second midgate piece or ontop of it as well for a true double baffle. I know with the things open from the cabin to bed in Shawns Avalanche, it was quiet on the road... so I figure that it doesnt need to be an air/water tight seal between the two. Ill call him up today and ask him his opinion on it... in the meantime can you check to see if you have 49" or 42" of useable width for me?Thanks,Scott
