Posted July 30, 200718 yr hey, i am curious as to why some people want to recone one size sub with another size, like 18 reconed like a 15. I have seen numerous threads about this and am just very curious as to what this accomplishes in the end. Thanks
July 30, 200718 yr Example, some competitions divide classes by number and size of subs. For example you can use 2 12's or 1 15, and compete in the same class.
July 30, 200718 yr i bought a 10" sub with a busted basket and my car is setup for a single 12 so i want to recone to a single twelve.
July 30, 200718 yr i dont know much about this but this is how i see it..a 10", 12", 15", 18" all use the same motor so therefore when reconing you can choose to make it any size you want cuz its all on the same motor
July 31, 200718 yr Everyone about summed it up. For less money you can keep the same sub in a new system... just change the size and softparts to match the new needs.
July 31, 200718 yr Or some people like to take subs with huge motors and put them on as small of basket as they can physical can. (points at self!!) One of these days I'll get the XXX and Brahma motors into 10"s. One of these days. Can we say beefy???Jon
July 31, 200718 yr Ouch! lol. Well considering my motor is to strong for the basket I think I'm safe Jon
July 31, 200718 yr If only motor size was an indicator of a sub's performance...It's not the size that counts?Oh, you're one of those "it's how you use it" kinda guys... Sorry, bout that.
