Hi my name is charlie , Mike Bartell suggested that i contact you guys. I am building a street max 1-2 truck , and am looking for the most efficent sub i can get as this class only allows a single battery . I'm interested in 2-15" subs that will take burps of 3000-4000 watts of clean power. Many companies have these 20,000 plus watt woofers and i fear that they will be too ineficent for my application. Thanks in advance for your time Charlie

BTL's are very efficient, for what they are...

You can reduce Mms even more and have softer spiders, but in SPL applications there's a fine line between gaining efficiency and making a woofer that's mechanically unusable in the lanes...

There are JBL, Selenium, B&C and other woofers out there that have higher efficiencies, and probably could take 2kW or so...but I'm not sure how they'd hold up to 4kW repeated burps, if at all.

So how should i order the btl's i'm not used to having build options.....i've always used woofers of the shelf

Really, if its for burps only with 3000-4000W, the standard 2 magnet version with pole chamfer will be plenty. If you let me know a little more about your enclosure sizing and tuning I might be ablke to tweak things further. Often the most efficient driver wont peak as hard either. Changins suspension and motor strength might result in a lower efficiency number, but higher peak overall.

Thanks,

Scott

Currently i'm using a transmission line enclosure with 2 mtx 8000 15's , but i intend to build a new wall when i get new subs . The new wall will likely be your typical "db drag " ported box any recommendations on internal volume and port area ? also i'm currently running 4 mtx 81000D amps but have got to 5000w amps that came from the same build house as the atomic 5000.1 amp and the adassa warlord. I plan on running 1 per sub

thanks,

Charlie
